80 mil cap

Created by: A_K

Description
Bouwmeester's $5.4M coming off the books the following year and promising prospects like Robert Thomas, Jordan Kyrou, Klim Kostin expected to play on their ELC's. In my very biased opinion this is the best landing spot for JT outside of NYI.

If the cap rises to $80 million or $83 million Tavares will get more then your offer, Probably in the $11 million to $12 million range.

Sounds too high based on the comps but we will see soon enough.

I agree that STL is a solid landing sport for Tavares, but he will get more than 10.25 mil. He will get like Larkin said around 12 mil.

Edmundson will get more than 3.5 on a 5 year deal.
Will be 3.5 for 3 years or like 4-5 for 5 years or more.

But the idea and premise I agree with you.

Upped it to 11.25M or 14% of the cap. Should be plenty. cheers

I would agree with the $10.5 million for John Tavares if the cap was say around $77 million but with the salary cap supposedly going anywhere from $78 million to possibly $83 million as soon as the 2018/2019 season i think Tavares will command more.

Word out of NY is Islanders have won the bid to build a new arena on LI, and to be announced on Wednesday. If the team continues to win he isn't leaving the Islanders.

You're probably right - as a percentage I'd put it slightly less than what Malkin got on his latest extension which was 14.7% of the cap. (Less because of Malkin's silverware)

Your $11.25 million offer for John Tavares is probably pretty spot on Maybe $11.5 million at the most.

This is probably more spot on, For what Tavares should get.

This logic isn't necessarily true. Tavares can't price himself out of the market either. Him asking for 13M+ for example means only a select few (maybe only 1 really) can afford him meaning he'll have effectively killed his market demand.

Tavares should ask 10.5M and not a dime more. Otherwise too many teams will drop out thus giving the few teams who maybe could afford him, more power in negotiation.

If MTL is the only team that can afford him at 13M, MB goes I can wait till he drops his demands more because no one else can afford that much anyway.
