Rebuild on the backend (TBL-FLA-NYR)

Created by: RC333
Team: 2017-18 Vancouver Canucks
Initial Creation Date: Dec. 25, 2017

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
PICKS NOT INCLUDED IN ANY OF THE D TRADES (except vanek) BUT THERE WOULD BE

Canucks should be set for the future in goaltending w/ Demko and Dipietro, as well as center with horvat Pettersson and gaudette. Only question marks is defence as benning has shown that he's willing to pick defenceman as he wanted juolevi and was going to select makar before he was chosen by the avs. This year I strongly think he chooses a defenceman in the draft.

But here are some possible moves to rebuild the backend for he future. Obv just speculation not all would happen.

Long-term I see stecher pouliot and juolevi sticking around

I don't see tanev gudbranson edler Hutton or del zotto sticking so why not trade some of them now while they have some value.

Tanev goes to Tampa and can replace stralman when he retires. But for now can pair up beside Hedman

Hedman - Tanev

Sergachev - Stralman

Coburn - Girardi

Gudbranson goes back to Florida where he played his best hockey. Canucks get Gildon.

Edler goes to Rangers for Sean Day.

So canucks future D could consist of...
LHD - Juolevi Pouliot Gildon Day Hutton
RHD - Stecher Foote (2018 1st pick) Chatfield

2018 first could be
Dahlin Boqvist Hughes Dobson Wilde

That’s a really interesting Tanev trade, although I’m not sure if Tampa feels that it’s necessary. They’re very high on Foote, so I wonder whether or not they’d pull the trigger to go all in. My gut tells me that they’d say no

U make good points, my mindset was that Foote won't be ready next year and maybe the year after, and tanev could do well as a replacement for stralman who's contract is almost up and is a huge part of their lineup.

What do u think about the other trades?

I think Vanek could net a larger return for sure. I haven’t seen enough of Gudbranson to know if it’s fair or not. The Edler trade is fair in terms of value, but the fit isn’t good. NYR defense is deep enough right now, and their prospect pool is very shallow, as they are trying to build it back up. Maybe another team takes a similar deal, but not the Rangers

I like it, I'm assuming this would be done at the deadline or off season. Canucks D for the rest of the season would be a tire fire but they'd get a solid D in the draft. If canucks did this they'd easily have the best prospect pool in the league.

As a Rangers fan, I would not be happy giving up Sean Day, a defenseman who could become a top RD, for two years of Edler.

Vanek can easily get you a 2nd. If he continues to stay hot he will attract the attention of many teams. If this occurs, I would not be surprised if a 1st or a 2nd and a decent prospect went your way

      That would be pretty solid
