Do you have a bad contract you would like to dump?
Bouwmeester is the worst contract on the team but it doesn't matter.
There's no way ever the Blues are trading Dunn, Thomas, a 1st, a 2nd and Berglund (who has a NMC) for 1.5 years of Patches. It's beyond unneeded.
Thomas is the 1st possible 1C the Blues have had in 15+ years. He's not getting dealt for a rental.
Dunn has solidified a roster spot and is the long term replacement for Bouwmeester.
Berglund has a NMC until next year. Not that I'm against trading him but he has a NMC.
The Blues don't have a 2018 1st (Schenn trade) unless the pick would be a top 10 (extremely unlikely).
It would have to be a hell of a long term aid to the Blues to give up their 2019 1st. They're not in the habit of going 2 years without 1st's. They're not the Pens.
Patches is a really good player having an off year stat wise. He's just not a need at all for St. Louis. Next year the Blues are looking at Fabbri, Schwartz, & Steen as LW's. Sobotka is playing a top 9 LW too. Patches to the Blues doesn't fill a need at all and makes little to no sense. So why would the Blues give up so much for something they obviously don't need?
