Trouba, 2 1sts and Copp should be enough.

Connor and Perreault are key to Depth this year.

If the Sabres are asking 4 pieces for a winger who is entering UFA with baggage, this makes total sense and is fair. I give you props on this for one of the great D in the NHL. 5 stars. I think both sides would take it..only thing is Trouba when he wanted out before reportedly didn't want to go to another Canadian team. But, other than that, good.

Seems like alot to give up for a guy that you might be able to afford in a couple years. Laine and Morrissey going to need contracts

I agree, if Karlsson intends on testing the market, he is all but gone from Ottawa. His return actually should be close to 3 NHL ready guys as well as 2 firsts. Trouba has little if any leverage as to where he may be traded to.

Exactly why I included Perreault and Connor in that trade. If their contracts are gone, and Jets let players like Enstrom, Myers and Mason walk, they might very well have enough money to sign all of those three players, since it has been rumoured that the salary cap will be raised to $80M+.

I just think your premise is all wrong. Just because the Sabre's is asking for that for that much (it's not likely true, it's just a Cap Friendly rumour), I think it's not logical to base a Karlsson trade by the Kane rumour. Another CapFriendly rumour from one poster was that Trouba didn't want to play in Canada. What's he going to do retire? And by Karlsson's play this year (does he still have his foot injury?) he doesn't warrant all this from Winnipeg IMO.
Would any other team offer so much for Karlsson? I don't think so, but we are going to find out, maybe not by TDL by likely the summer.

It's already been widely reported that Erik Karlsson intends on testing the market, And supposedly all Canadian teams are on his no trade list Doug MacClean pretty much said there on TSN that Karlsson wants to play in the US and had a 7 team list that's he's willing to accept to and Vegas and Detroit were #1 and #2 respectively. There's no way Trouba is committing long term with Ottawa he wants to play in the States i see him either here in Florida or up in Detroit where he trains in the offseason. There's absolutely no way Trouba is leaving an up and coming team like Winnipeg for a team that's trending down like Ottawa that's just not in the cards.

I mean, Dreger or one of the insiders (pretty sure it was Dregs) said that was what the Sabres were asking. Doesn't mean they'll get it, but they're asking that. Both that and Trouba not wanting to play in Canada were reported or at least, speculated by TSN insiders.

I do agree, definitely a draft day/summer deal, not TDL. & no, I don't think he'd be worth that much without an extension in place minimum, but, if that's what's being reported from TSN insiders that they are asking that for Kane in Buffalo, then Karlsson definitely deserves more than Kane. IMO

Update: here's one of many links you can check out from Dregs: https://www.sbnation.com/nhl/2018/1/17/16900852/evander-kane-trade-rumors-buffalo-sabres-jason-botterill

& he's a winger, who is essentially the easiest position to replace. So, if they can land that for Kane (don't think they will, but maybe some team bites) than Karlsson is definitely worth more than that as a top D.

shaf daddy: I just think it's kinda ridiculous that the Sabres will get the asking price. If that were true, wouldn't the deal be done already? And Dreger and the rest, well if anyone really want to believe them, I really don't why. They are in the entertainment business and often they say things just so the masses think they are so well informed. Often they just mouthpieces for GMs, or agents trying to get a message out,(often untrue) nothing more.
So what if Trouba doesn't want to play in Canada, what's he going to do at the end of his contract.....retire? go to Europe? Now when he's eligible to be a UFA, summer of 2020, then he can avoid Canada as his home team.
I hope Trouba and his agent were smart enough when he signed his first NHL contact, with the Jets, that he would be under their NHL contract for seven years. Apparently (a rumour) the reason Trouba really doesn't want to play in Canada, is that his father has trouble entering Canada due to previous legal issues (not sure it is true).

I don't want to say the Sabres will get that much for Kane, because I wouldn't even come close to touching that asking price.

As for Trouba and the Jets, I would think if he still doesn't want to be there or play there, he'll be traded. Teams would give up plenty for him. Again, with the Jets where they're at it's def a summer thing that would happen. It'd be really dumb to do it before TDL.
