Very good trade for Ottawa because I think they won't be able to sign him at the price he's going to be looking for so to get all that from Chi would be a home run! If Chi can find space to sign him long term than he is a very good pickup because he, alongside Toews and Hossa, would light it up like an 1980's Cuban cigar. The guy can definitely snipe and can be a major threat in the right environment. (Chicago is the right environment). Ultimately, they don't have that space and having young players on cheap contracts in exactly what Chicago needs right now so they aint taking on anymore salary unless they can get rid of some first.

Good trade for both teams. In order to fit Hoffman under the cap next year, maybe Hawks trade RFA Shaw after the playoffs.

Hawks wouldn't trade either of those 2 just yet. Terravainen I could see being moved next year or as an RFA at the draft, and Pokka same deal. And that's IF they even consider trading those 2 next year. Hawks are short on d prospects and with cap constraints next year along with probably having to dump Scuderi, it makes no sense to trade any defensemen unless they're getting one back.

Depends what you mean by short of D prospects. Prospect Currently in the NHL...Gus, TVR...Prospects with NHL experience Svedberg, Rundblad, in AHL Rockford Pokka, Fournier, Jardine. Fournier and Jardine may not be elite prospects, but not every prospect is elite.

Pokka is their best d prospect right now. They trade him they have to settle for bringing in another vet like Roszival in next season. Rundblad and Svedberg were sent down for a reason. If Fournier even makes it to the NHL, wouldn't be for another couple of seasons probably. And I don't think they have Jardine. Not showing up on their roster. Forsling would probably be their next best bet, but he's same as Fournier. Likely wouldn't crack the roster for a couple of years at the least. With cap constraints for a while still, it makes no sense to trade Pokka unless they're getting a return on d.

And TVR and Gustaffsson really aren't prospects. TVR made the team last year and Q seems to like Gus so I wouldn't be surprised to see him back on the team next year. I'm talking moreso about guys for their future. Pokka and Forsling are pretty much it unless someone REALLY exceeds expectations at camp next season.
