Bobby Ryan

Created by: ItWasIn
Team: 2017-18 Calgary Flames
Initial Creation Date: Jan. 25, 2018
Published: Jan. 25, 2018
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Trades
CGY
  1. Ryan, Bobby ($1,250,000 retained)
  2. Thompson, Nate
OTT
  1. Brouwer, Troy
  2. Klimchuk, Morgan
  3. 2018 4th round pick (FLA)
Additional Details:
I know Burke has been openly critical of Bobby Ryan. But the Flames are a team that needs a goal scorer, and having very little draft picks makes it difficult.

Ryan may be available for a cheaper price than any other name out there. It is well known Melnyk wants to clear salary it would make sense to get rid of Ryan's albatross deal

Brouwer sent to make money work. He makes less and has less term than Ryan

Even though we get rid of Brouwer that's still a lot of money and term for a guy that hasn't scored more than 24 goals in a year since 2011-12.

I don't mind this, I do think paying that contract in the last few years would be really painful!

I really don't think EK leaving has anything to do with Ryan...

Bobby Ryan is by no means the guy I want them to get. But this team has very little for draft picks for the next 2 years, and draft picks are capital these days. I'm also not willing to part with some of the high end prospects this organization has either. Ryan may be a guy they could get for a bit of a cheaper price

Anyway, this team needs some added scoring or they won't amount to anything come playoff time. Yeah Ryan is very injury prone, but he is still a good player, also had 15 points in 19 playoff games last season and was a big part of that Sens team

Wasn't Brian "The Brain" Burke so courageous mocking a player (Ryan) on another team publicly? Burke who showed he knew so little of hockey talent in his last GM job as a Leaf. Yea, Ryan certainly isn't worth his contract in virtually any deal, but he sure is a lot more as player than what Burke was paid by the Leafs.

Absolutely terrible trade for Calgary! Let’s take Ryan’s contract for the next 4.5 seasons at 6.5 million per.?? He is past his prime and can no longer score. I would rather keep Brouwer at 4 million or so for 2.5 more seasons. 0 out of 5 stars.
