I wouldn’t say that the trade is out of the realm of possibility.

Giving a little bit too much for Pageau, Sprong is looking like a solid prospect, he’s Point Per Game in the AHL rn (his first year), with Pageau’s 3 mill contract as well and little to no cap coming back makes me think the Pens need to shave a bit of value back, maybe 2nd into a 4th instead?

It's a possibility, but I see him going somewhere like St.Louis or Nashville.

Not sure they will. They should run run run with that deal I purposed. Don’t really feel like explaining but nobody else would give up that quality or quantity.

I have some inside info from peeps. Our coaching staff and management don’t really like Sprong and think he’s expandable for a youngish center with term, aka JG Pageau.

Depends on who offers the most. I think it’s wide open to who gets him.

What if Ottawa likes him and you’re paying too much to get Pageau when you don’t really need to

Don't know why PIT fans think Cole is a hot commodity. He's a bottom pairing defensemen. But the league in general is insane so I'm sure someone out there thinks he's amazing.

The Pens aren't trading Sprong to marginally upgrade Sheahan. You can't dump blue chip prospects on the verge of making the NHL for depth players, especially when you're a cap team in need of cheap 20-30 goal scorers.

Cole’s a #5 who could jump into the top 4 with the right partner. Some team is definitely going to overpay for him.

Do you want to get a center?

Not sure I understand your comment, but he’s not. 1st, Bjorkvist, 3rd, and then Cole. BUF then flips Cole for a 2nd.

Rutherford would disagree. I agree with your statement, but Pageau is one of the players I would trade Sprong for. Pageau is as about perfect as you can get for 3C for PIT.

Where are you even getting this from? Rutherford has said nothing to indicate Sprong is on the outs with the organization, and his advanced stats were fantastic in his short tenure. Would you have traded him for Sheahan?
