                              my rundown of each deal:

1- hate it. not a JGP fan at all. think hes over rated. not prepared to give up sprong for his work. his fancy stats are not that impressive. hes a Bonino downgrade (since thats the hole we are trying to fill)

2- good value for pens. Letestu isnt a "great" 3C but at that price... hes good value

3- cullens best days are behind him but for that price id be happy with that move

4- love the patch trade for Pitt. dont see habs moving patch other than for a young C but bergavin is a BAD gm.

5- like the galchenyuk trade for Pitt too... but like I said, if he gets moved... its probably for a C

6- pleck trade is fair for both parties in value... but I dont see the habs wanting a rental if their playoff chances are over

7- kane is gonna require a first round pick minimum... and I dont see him being worth that as a rental.

Pageau’s fancy stats aren’t good because of dZS%. His CA gets dragged down because of it, causing his CF% and CF% rel to be dragged down as well. I will respond but I’ve got to go. After I’m done with what I’m doing, I will describe in depth each move to you.

Yeah i dont think MTL trades Pacioretty and Chucky without getting a potential #1 C back. IMO they dont trade Chucky at all but then again BERGEVIN.

7- kane is gonna require a first round pick minimum... and I dont see him being worth that as a rental.

dude , I am with u on JGP, I DONT GET THE HYPE ??? hes a really good #4 IMO.

Yeah i dont think MTL trades Pacioretty and Chucky without getting a potential #1 C back. IMO they dont trade Chucky at all but then again BERGEVIN.

They won’t be getting a potential #1C back.

SidStick87, I know your frustration about Pageau, but if he’s traded to PIT, you’ll be disappointed laugh

No , i wont be disappointed .... Id be a fan, if he wears the Logo.... I just dont agree that he is worth that.... If we can get him for less, i would be happier tho.

I’m home. give me like 15-30min and I’m writing and explaining everything. I will explain why Pageau is worth that league wide and why his advanced stats aren’t good.

                              my rundown of each deal:

1- hate it. not a JGP fan at all. think hes over rated. not prepared to give up sprong for his work. his fancy stats are not that impressive. hes a Bonino downgrade (since thats the hole we are trying to fill)

2- good value for pens. Letestu isnt a "great" 3C but at that price... hes good value

3- cullens best days are behind him but for that price id be happy with that move

First, let's describe Pageau: He's a young center, with scoring upside, who is on a cheap enough contract for the Penguins for three years. He is used in mostly defensive settings. OKAY, now let's look at other third line center trades for comparison: Lars Eller for two 2nd's; Brandon Sutter+3rd for Bonino+Clending+2nd(this one doesn't count since they were traded for eachother); Hanzal(rental)+White+4th for 1st+2nd+4th . . .I'll stop there. The most comparable deal was Eller for two 2nd's. Eller had 26 points(total) 49.2 dZS%(5v5) the year before he got traded. Eller also had contract of 3.5m for 3 more years when he was traded. Now, last year Pageau had a total of 33 points last year and is on pace for 34 points this year. Pageau also has a dZS% of 59.7. Pageau also has a contract of 3.1m for 2.5 more years. This means Pageau as about an equal contract to Eller, Pageau is scoring more than Eller, and Pageau's dZS% is way higher than Eller's. (note: if your dZS% is higher, that means you play more in the D-Zone than O-Zone). Using my calculations, If a 28 point, less than 50% dZS% center can get two 2nd's, Pageau can get a 2nd, as well as a better prospect than that second 2nd. Sprong isn't some superstar . . .yet. You never know these days. How often is a young, cost controlled center moved? Almost never. I'm not saying this because my source told me Sprong is the most likely candidate to be traded, I'm saying this because it's reality. Sprong isn't liked by the coaching staff . . . Sprong has also shown some character issues. In the end, Sprong isn't a player management wants around. Just look, Sullivan would rather have Kuhnhackl play his off-wing with Malkin than just simply calling up Sprong. It's reality. No way in hell we get a good third line center with term without giving up Sprong. There just isn't a way.

I was going to talk about the other trades, but they are self explanatory. Any more questions/concerns on Pageau?

I think if we are moving sprong... we can get a better C. still not sold on pageau as like I said before I dont think hes a Bonino upgrade. id rather use sprong as a package for a guy like reinhart or Galchenyuk. to me that would make more sense

                              1) Reinhart and Galchenyuk are both playing wing.
                              2) If Sprong+1st is the ask for Pageau, imagine the ask for Reinhart/Galchenyuk.
                              3) BUF would want a top defensive prospect and MTL would want a good center prospect back.
                              4) Reinhart and Galchenyuk aren’t on the block to my knowledge.
