I don’t see why CAR would want to retain on Kruger when he only costs them ~1m in cap space while in the AHL.

cap wise yes. Actual Salary wise no. If Canes dont want to pay him NHL money to sit in the AHL, retaining his Salary and trading him would be cheaper financially, They would have dead cap space but dont have to worry about paying his 3.475m. Actual 1 way contract salary isnt shaved off when a player is sent to AHL. He still gets his cash

I won't be shocked to see Kruger moved at the deadline with salary retained. Canes are not a high budget team so this will save them money

Why don't you see why? They would retain the Salary to pick up the draft picks for a guy who will never play for them again.

Kruger has been worse than Reaves and the Pens have better options at 4th line center.. No thanks
