Salary Dumps and minor deal with a rival

Created by: Riddler
Team: 2017-18 Ottawa Senators
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 15, 2018
Published: Feb. 15, 2018
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Just throwing some ideas around. Idea is to clear cap in hopes to extend Karlsson. Don't worry too much about the line combos and guys who maybe should be in the NHL instead of AHL and vice versa. Don't know Ottawa too well to make accurate lines and internal-roster moves

Not a bad package for Faulk. Probably may need to take out Gauthier and it'd be fair. Other than that, nice. Don't think all these deals would happen because rarely do teams make 4-5 deals in a year but that doesn't takeaway from this.

Stone has scored well over 200 points in the last 4 seasons (between the ages of 21-25). Is super fast and Ottawa relies on him on most of their special teams due to his two-way play

Faulk is also 25, plays for a subpar team in the Hurricanes and is great offensively, but below average defensively

Carolina takes that deal in a heartbeat and runs

Other deals aren't what the Sens are looking for either... Pageau would likely be a mid-high pick (1st-2nd rd) + prospect (skill based on pick quality), Brassard would ideally be 1st + prospect - the Columbus Blue Jackets get fleeced on that deal here as Burrows and Condon are just cap space saved, and the Hoffman deal is terrible, as the Sens would likely want a 1st + Top Tier prospect (like a Tolvanen or a Kyrou) instead of a cap dump and mediocre Top 9 player in Burakovsky + late picks

Fair trades all around. Stone would be too much to resign with Karlsson on the books

If Anderson signs for less this off-season and Karlsson wants to stay, then these are great deals!

Anderson is already signed to an extension at 4.75 I think

I wouldn't trade Stone straight up for Faulk. He's been their best forward the last 4 years and is playing at a point a game this year. Faulk is great but I'd rather keep Stone
