I dont think a late first is worth the downgrade from Brassard to Sheary. Apparently, theres 3-4 good pieces at play.

Gustavson maybe.. Sprong isn't going anywhere. 1st in play. Sheary and Hunwick too. We don't NEED Brassard.. But what team is going to pay more. Ottawa want's something. What other teams would be in on Brassard. What would they be able to offer. That is key.

Plus keep in mind they traded Dion for Gaborik to save money. Definitely wasn't for his elite skills.

Brass is the top center on the market. St. Louis is reportedly interested with a package being floated of Kyrou/Thomas + Fabbri and a pick. Which would translate to Gus/Jarry + Sprong and a pick.

Then he goes to STL. Pittsburgh can give Gustavsson+1st+Hunwick or 1st + Sprong+Hunwick for Brassard (50% retained) and a 4th.

We aren't that desperate for Brassard. I would be happy to settle with Derek Ryan of Carolina as our 4th liner with Simon and Hornqvist as his winger.
