3 smaller TDL moves to upgrade the lineup (CBJ,ARZ,CAR)

Created by: TML_GM
Team: 2017-18 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 22, 2018
Published: Feb. 22, 2018
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Spending some picks and second tier prospects to upgrade depth at C and D (the weaker parts of the lineup).

More manageable than going big on McD or EK65.

Keeps the core intact with minimal changes to the lineup. Adds playoff experience with controlled assets beyond this season.

Returns can be adjusted for other teams, they are ballparks.

Improves depth, PK, grit. Kruger and Hammer are off the books when Matthews/Marner contracts kick in. Jenner can likely be retained on a cheap deal due to his drop-off in performance the last 2 years. Still young and could be Babcocked back to a 25G type eventually.

a "B" level prospect, a top 6 RHD, and a 2nd is more then adequate value.

whose the b-level prospect? last i checked Timashov isn't even a point per game player in the american league. and carrick is not useful to any team, besides depth. do u know what hjalmarsson does and whats his value? if arizona makes him available, teams will start lining up to get him, and he'll go for a much higher price then the crap u offered. coyotes are better off keeping him then adding a fringe ahler and a depth defenseman

Do you know what a B level prospect is? Timashov is only 21 with a 0.5 ppg total in the A. You know what players who post 1.0 PPG seasons in the AHL are? NHL ready players. As for Carrick he can easily be a top 6 RHD, who can put up 15-20 points a year on many teams if given the chance. If Babcock didn't have such a thing for Polak he'd be having a great year. Hjalmersson on the other hand is an upgrade over Carrick and Polak for sure but cost 4x as much and is much older. Carrick Offensively is better but Hjalmersson even on his opposite side is a much better defensive upgrade and exactly what the leafs need, to go along with his playoff/cup winning experience. This saves Arizona money and could be a great fit for the leafs who could take the entire cost of Hjalmersson off their hands.
