According to Sportsnets rankings Hayton is ranked 10 and Veleno is ranked 14, but Veleno has been dropping down the rankings.

Yea, Veleno is all over the place in the rankings... Of course his "exceptional" status has something to do with it - if he didn't have that hanging over his head he would have a more consistent ranking.. But yea, he's been free falling... It kind of reminds me of Angelo Esposito about 10 years ago. He went into his draft year ranked at #1 then slipped all the way to #30 when Pittsburgh took him with their first round pick.. At the time I thought Pittsburgh got away with highway robbery but Esposito never even made the NHL,go figure that.. He's probably one of the bigger busts in NHL history that's never talked about... I mean at 15 they were calling Esposito a "generational player" but he never played 1 game in the NHL... I hope that fate doesn't fall to Veleno - and I doubt it will... I think Veleno is NHL ready, but perhaps he doesn't have the same ceiling as other players in this draft, but he should be a solid 2-way player - some call him a "poor mans Toews"..
