Don't see Avs trading two years of Barrie for one year of Ellis.

As a Nashville fan I would prefer to keep Ellis, save 3m, and not mess with team chemistry.

This is a deal for a better future. NSH can not re-sign Ellis(with 6,5m+ contract and Fialla 5,5m+).
NSH have Fabro as potentional T1 RD. But he need more practice in NHL.
I would also like to keep this team for always. But this is unreal.

You're right. Chemistry is so important and is often ignored when folks make trades on a site like this. It's not all cap, years on contracts, goals and assists. I'm sure Nashville's plan is to resign Ellis, and if Nashville maintains it's stellar play, Ellis might be quite happy staying even at a discount. There is spot for in Toronto in 2019, if he wants come close to his hometown.

Trade Bonino (insert Calle 3L C) dont resign Hartnell and you should have enough to extend Ellis and Fiala easily. That is assuming of course that cap goes to around 80m by 2019-2020 and they both agree to the contracts you proposed.

EDIT: Pekkas contract with also fall off by then.

And if one of the centers is traumatized, Nashville again has big problems ...
I do not like Bonino's contract, just like Johansen. But if we lose the center, we must acquire it. Most important role in NHL, ofc after goaltender.

Freddy G will need a roster spot next year and should fill in quite nice if someone goes down.

Peks should be always Preds. And will surely re-signed for 5m(3 years.).

It looks like you do not believe in Barry. happy
*NSH can let AVS 4th round pick and get NSH 3rd, for exmpl.

Joe says no. Barrie's point production is too important.

Ok, here’s some constructive criticism.

Colorado wont be looking for a RD in a Barrie trade as that is our prospect strength with Makar/Timmons/Meloche. IF Barrie becomes expendable it would be a hockey trade for right side forward scoring first, left side forward scoring second, and left defense third. Ellis would be expendable the same way Barrie would so this trade doesn't really accomplish the teams goals. Plus being in the division makes this trade even less likely. I think both teams are better off not doing this.

Takes two to sign. Why would Ellis be interested unless Avs overpay.?

Absolutely no way the Avs do this. That's not saying Ellis isn't a decent player. If the Avs trade Barrie it won't be for another right handed D. They'd be better off standing pat with Barrie. Barrie will either be traded to reinforce the D, re-signed as a D, or could even be converted to a winger (just an idea that occurred to me). Whichever way, with EJ, and then Makar, Timmins, Meloche and maybe Alt to use in the future on the right, the Avs aren't likely to look for a RHD in a trade. Ellis is also older than Barrie so doesn't fit the rebuild. As for adding Jost.......not a hope in hell. None of it is a fit for Colorado, even if it works for NAS. The Avs aren't going to make a trade just to help out a divisional rival in getting stronger!

Not a chance. Avs don't need Weber. Makar, Timmins & Meloche will all be coming through on the right.

Ellis's point production isn't the equivalent of Barrie's, he also only has one year remaining rather than two. Ellis is better than Barrie defensively. Barrie is better offensively. I fail to see an argument, Foppa21 has given you constructive criticism in pointing out why the Avs wouldn't make this trade. The Avs are likely only going to trade Barrie for forward help on the wings, thus replicating his production (at minimum) and leaving space for Timmins or Makar to fill his role in the future. Barrie's point production IS too important to trade for a guy like Ellis. Ellis wouldn't put up the kind of numbers he has on the Predators if he were with the Avs, because the Predators are (currently) a much better team. Conversely, Barrie would have put up even higher numbers were he on the Preds roster, than he has on the Avs, which presumably is exactly the reason you would want him.
