OEL Trade Options (without Dahlin)

Created by: krakowitz
Team: 2017-18 Arizona Coyotes
Initial Creation Date: Mar. 14, 2018
Published: Mar. 14, 2018
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
If the Coyotes get Dahlin, they can be flexible with the return. If not, then it has to start with a young defenseman that's either already a top pairing guy, or has that potential. St. Louis trade is probably the most unrealistic IMO

IMO are way too much for pay for one year of OEL.

I forgot to mentioned that an extension is assumed upon a trade

With extension assumed upon trade, I can see the value in all these. Not sure St.Louis would, but they could. They’d have to decide if gettin rid of Parayko is worth the top LHD or if they want to pursue that a different way (because LHDs are a lot easier to get than RHDs). Boston may decide otherwise if they believe Lauzon’s important to the team’s future because they could b just fine with or without this trade.
Good GM. It made me think about those deals.

I guess these might make some sense, but if ARI doesn't get Dahlin, I don't see any reason why they should trade OEL. I'm more interested in their options if they do land Dahlin, and my guess is something like this for a return on OEL: A prospect, B prospect, NHLer, late 1st round pick.

So for the Blues, instead of losing Parayko, maybe they can work a deal like OEL for Kyrou + Walman + Berglund + 2018 1st (WPG).

For what it's worth, I'm of the opinion that the return has nothing to do with the possibility of an extension - I think any team looking to trade for OEL will be interested in an extension so it shouldn't change his value from one team to the next. All the teams will know that he's either going for a fair price or he's getting an extension in ARI / walking into FA.

Oliver Ekman-Larsson is probably asking for at least 7.5 to 8.0M per Dallas will need to give Tyler Seguin at least $10 million per. Doubt Dallas could afford Ekman-Larsson.

ooof, gonna pass on that OEL trade from an Isles standpoint. Love OEL but skill wise Leddy and OEL are fairly close to then add a 2nd along with one of our best d prospects is steep, and then adding the presumed $7-8mil extension we'd have to give him. Not worth it.

Why would Dallas trade Heiskanen for Ekman-Larsson when they can get their "own" from him in 3-4 years?
