Why? What else do you think it would take to have the best defenseman in the world? The point is you have to pay a hefty price.

First off we don’t need him. Second, Provorov will be a top 5 D man in the league very soon. And we have ghost to do all the offensive stuff Karlsson does. I wouldn’t trade Provorov straight up for 1 year of Karlsson.

Ok maybe a little over exaggeration by DD however if you think in context I agree that I would not make this trade from the Flyers aspect. Obviously Karlsson is better than Provorov, the issue is you would have to give Karlsson 11-12 per year and to me Konecny is the second coming of Recchi

No, no I am not. We have Provorov for the next decade, once he is re-signed,at a much cheaper price than Karlsson. TK will be a first line player for a decade as well. This would be the exact opposite of what Hextall wants to do with the Flyers. If the GM was still Holmgren then ya he would make some stupid trade like this.

You're not getting Parayko for that offer and try more like 7 years $56 million for John Carlson and no way he's signing with Ottawa.

You really think a team is going to trade for a 1 year of Karlsson? IF he is really traded, it will be with a 8 years extension in place...

You realize Recchi has scored 1533 pts in the NHL?

Why? His value will be higher after July 1st.

No his value will be less but there will be more teams at the table. Two playoffs runs with Karlsson is more valuable than one believe it or not. Ottawa’s taking a gamble that more teams=a bigger offer but imo Vegas was the perfect trading partner to start of with.

lol but what about (potentially) 9 playoff runs?

A team trading for a big star will want to know if they're trading for someone with an extension in place. Teams rarely give up a huge package for a "rental", and Dorion is not going to trade Karlsson without getting a king's ransom.

I thought that would be a given for hockey fans

Vegas (despite offering a reportedly big package) didn't mean that requirement so it didn't work
