The trouble with focusing on being nasty and telling people to go away is that it doesn't teach them anything.
You're right, but explain why, and for which side.
Like, Colin Miller is three years younger, is in his first full season as an NHL regular, is top fifty among defensemen in points, has more goals, and has a better plus minus than Karlsson. A one for one would fail to fix Vegas' one organizational weakness which is that they only have two right handed defensemen, and it's doubtful Vegas would accept. If Karlsson were at his peak, this trade would be great for Vegas, sure. But he's not scoring twenty goals, and he's not playing a 200 foot game. Miller might be closer to both (although Vegas' superior depth at defense keeps them from having to find out whether he can play a ton of minutes, whereas Ottawa's desire to boost Karlsson's offensive totals back to his healthy young levels keep him playing way, way too many minutes).
If you want to trade Bobby Ryan's contract for a prospect and a first round pick, Ottawa will have to set him up for thirty goals next year, first. There's no other way that happens. You get him thirty goals, and that trade is fine. It might take 80% offensive zone starts with Hoffman and Duchene, but if they can just jiggle him and make him look alive, while they bounce a few goals off his legs, I really think they can Weekend at Bernie's their way out of this.
