Playoffs (READ DESCRIPTION)

Created by: krakowitz
Team: 2018-19 Arizona Coyotes
Initial Creation Date: Apr. 4, 2018
Published: Apr. 4, 2018
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Things are going right for this team now. The young guys are starting to get Tocchet's system, Strome is improving, the goaltending has been outstanding, and the defense has been much better. Give these guys a full year, as well as the scoring/PP boost from Vanek as well as a more mobile bottom pair with Jerabek in Schenn's place, they can easily contend for a playoff berth

That sort of single-year deal for Vanek is the sort that Columbus is very likely to preemptively offer him. If he's willing to sign that kind of deal, he'll probably stay here.

True. Sign Vanek to multi-year, and I'm sure u can do better than D.Moore and Polak, but the rest is good.

The Coyotes can obviously afford to throw a ton of money at him on a 1 year deal, so the price can go up if it becomes a bidding war for him.

Moore and Polak were just veteran extras. They could be literally anyone like that. Hell, they could bring back Connauton or Schenn instead of Polak.

I'm sure - and the Jackets' likely response to significantly increased AAV would be "nah, that's fine, thanks for your service; be sure to give us a call next March". What'll make the team really flinch is multiple years, because the offseason after this coming one we have three core players to re-sign (Panarin, Werenski, and Bob).

You've got the right idea.

I personally wouldn't trade Martinook for a pick like that. He's worth more to the team and his line with Richardson has been excellent, including PK. Cousins is terrible on the dot and they need Richy or another center for that 4th line.

Vanek, Bozak, Grabner - whoever is in their price range and term. They need some scoring punch, and UFA might be the best way to fill that need. But there might be some trade opportunities too. And they might win the 2nd overall. (Okay, that might be too optimistic). unsure

Plus whoever they pick in the draft. Top 5 look all to be NHL ready.
