Description
This is an expansion of my previous post. LOTS of moving pieces here - just having some fun really.

1) DET wins the draft lottery and trades down for BUF 3rd overall, shedding DeKeyser and grabbing a young forward and another 1st rd draft pick in the process.

2) Big 3 way trade with MTL and OTT. MTL gets their Center in Matt Duchene. OTT gets rid of Bobby Ryan's contract - great for them being a cheap team - and also picks up Evgeney and moves up in the draft from 5th to 2nd overall to draft Andrei. DET continues to stockpile high draft picks getting another 2018 1st rd pick - 5th overall - and a 2019 1st, but they have top eat Bobby Ryan's contract in the process.
breakdown:
DET gets - 2018 5th overall, 2019 1st, Bobby Ryan
DET gives - Evgeney Svechnikov
OTT gets - 2018 2nd overall, Evgeney Svechnikov
OTT gives - 2018 5th overall, 2019 1st, Matt Duchene, Bobby Ryan
MTL gets - Matt Duchene
MTL gives - 2018 2nd overall

3) DET moves up to ARI 4th overall.

4) DET tries to trade some guys taking up roster spots for low draft picks. Key word is TRIES. Helm is the only one with a contract that will make it hard to move. If you can't move Helm then he's 4C and Turgeon goes back to GR unfortunately. Glendening has term but he's not that expensive.

No way does Buffalo take on Dekeyser's contract if all we're dumping is one year of pommers.

Yeah sure, go ahead and skip right over the fact that you're also getting the 1st overall pick in the drat to take Dahlin, that's fine.

We're giving you 3rd and more than likely another lottery pick next. And Nylander who is at his roots, another top 10 pick. 3 Top ten picks. Yes Dahlin is legit but cmon. You're gonna either have to take cap back or leave that huge cap dump out.

If you're that worried about then throw in Bogosian and Glendening. Saves you $3.5 million. Also, "likely another lottery pick next year" I like the optimism there lol

If detroit gets 1 your insane to think they'll trade it. I'd rather keep Dekeyser and his contract as long as dahlin is coming to detroit. Trading 2 svechnikovs for 2 picks ok but also having to eat Ryans contract is a huge no. No no no,

You would rather have Dahlin than Nylander, Zadina, and an extra 2019 1st rd pick - that's fine, that's your opinion. But you aren't even reading the rest of it right... I laid it all out there for you in the description, it should be simple. We aren't trading two Svechnikovs... the 2nd overall pick is never ours, it belongs to MTL in this scenario. We are only trading Evgeney for a 2018 5th overall, a 2019 1st rd pick, and Bobby Ryan's contract.

The Sabres would flat out refuse that offer. They may even hang up the phone..... unless the offer was made via text.

Nylander is not going anywhere. If the Sabres lose the lottery which will probable happen they will pick no worse than 5th if OTT overtakes us for last place and if not no worse than 4th. Dahlin would be a great piece but not at leveraging your current prospects and next years draft.

Nylander gets a shot at the BIGS the next 3 games then he will go back to Rochester for the AHL playoffs. He has played very well in Rochester the last 12 games. The Sabres have invested too much in him to this point to get off the train now.

This was made taking into account the massive hype surrounding Dahlin and with the assumption that BUF, along with most other teams, thinks he is a once in a generation talent and would go to great measures to get him on their team. I've had people say they would never trade the 1st overall pick (Dahlin) and people say that package is too much for Dahlin. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. All in good fun. But thanks for the 1 star rating anyways.

I doubt Buffalo takes that offer. It's a steep price to pay to move up 2 spots.

Ottawa doesn’t have a 1st round pick in 2019 if they use the pick this year next years pick automatically goes to Colorado for the Duchene trade
