IMO that would be a very inexpensive upgrade at GK for Buffalo.

Great deal for the Sabres even for one Grubauer. For two of him, it's fantastic!

I don't think the Caps are giving a third up for Dansk, or letting Grubauer go for just a 2nd, even after you throw in the thoughts and prayers.

Check back through Caps pages and see what other teams are offering for him. I think if he wins a playoff round he gets a 1st.

If not, he gets a 2nd and a top prospect. Preferably at center or right D.

Ya Grubauer could easily get more, but the only problem is there isn’t much demand for a starter. Buffalo is one of the only teams that I think will be looking for a starter but they are never going to trade their 1st. NYI are another team but again, aren’t going to give up either one of their 1sts. It’s tough because every team I can think of in need of a starting goalie has a 1st too high and valuable to give up. Plus the 32nd pick of Buffalo is 1 pick off a 1st rounder anyways, so it would have value. Maybe I could add an extra 3rd or something instead of the 6th.

And the Dansk trade was tough for me value-wise, since he has great numbers in his limited NHL time this year and his AHL numbers are great. Maybe a 4th instead, but he is young and could become a pretty good backup, though it would be a gamble.

    Thanks for the feedback smile

You're right that NYI fans are sticking with 2nd and recent 1st round bust as a formula for Grubauer. But that's still more tempting than just a slightly higher second.

For Holtby Islanders fans are offering a 10th overall pick and some pretty good prospects. Have to watch the playoffs to see if there's any chance the Caps trade Holtby, though.

The Caps don't pass on Dansk because of Dansk. He is really good. They pass on Dansk because of Samsonov, Vanecek, and Copley in their own system, each of whom might just show up to camp ready to start twenty games next year. Adding another prospect just reduces the opportunities for the other three to stick. They might sign a cheap UFA they don't think anyone will claim on waivers, but I don't see them trading for another prospect, unless they're looking at demoting Vanecek from Hershey where he's doing okay to South Carolina over the summer.

St. Louis, Ottawa, Edmonton, Calgary, and Detroit fans have also asked about Grubauer on here, but have yet to make great offers. There is indeed a small market for goalies.
