But I wouldn't deal Hoffman for RNH so the deal is very close to be fair IMO. Maybe Ottawa adds Harpur or Englund and that's it

Hoffman-McDavid-Puljujärvi
Lucic-Draisatl-Aberg
Khaira, Strome, Kassian, Caggiula, etc

Nurse-Larsson
Sekera-Ceci
Russell-Bear

Then the Oilers should try to acquire a good RWing.

You'd need to add a prospect ceci is about as good as benning plus RNH is McDavid new winger with one year longer on his term an three years younger I wouldn't entertain this trade plus klef is locked up to an amazing contract just ask @phillyjabroni how much hed pay for klef

Maybe Benning could get more responsability but until it happens, you never know. Ceci was the 2nd most utilized player on a team that got 98 pts and went to the ECF (2nd OT game 7 against Pittsburgh). Sens fan who don't like Ceci were saying that Wideman or Claesson would be better but when they had to play for an increased role, they failed miserably. Obviously, I could talk about this for hours but the "quality of minutes" is directly linked to his advanced stats. Quality of teammates (Ceci played mostly with declining Phaneuf), quality of competition (Ceci mostly play against best NHL players), zone starts (Ceci starts mostly in the defensive zone), quality of the team possession (Ottawa has been poor in possession under Boucher) and if the role of the player is appropriate (Ceci isn't supposed to be a shutdown D-man), aka is the player in the right chair? I would like to see if many players would come out with positive underlying numbers those circumstances.

Maybe EDM likes klefbom a lot and that's fine, phillyjabroni's opinion doesn't matter. You can find some Sens fans who think EK is worth Draisatl, Kelfbom, Yamamoto and two 1sts.It's just fans opinions, it doesn't mean much.

Harpur and Englund are prospects by the way.

Cody Ceci has been mostly deployed against second and third lines this season.

This graph (http://www.hockeyviz.com/fixedImg/wowy/1718/OTT/cecixco93/) indicates that Dion Phaneuf has better score-adjusted shots for and against when he is without Cody Ceci, indicating that Ceci is actually the one who brings down Phaneuf, not the other way around to which you alluded to earlier. To comment on his possession metrics, he has never cracked a positive number in terms of relativeCF%, with this season being a -6.1 relative to his teammates. Compared to Oscar Klefbom, he has never had a year with a negative relCF%, with this year being a 1.7.

The only player this year with a worse 5v5 relCF% with a minimum of 1400 aggregate minutes played is Justin Braun. Cody Ceci also has the second worst relxGF% only to Justin Braun with a -4.45%.

I think we can objectively say that Oscar Klefbom is superior to Cody Ceci is playing value and trade value.

Thing is I have never argued about a Ceci vs Klefbom comparison... That's really not the point. Look what I said in post #3

"But I wouldn't deal Hoffman for RNH so the deal is very close to be fair IMO. Maybe Ottawa adds Harpur or Englund and that's it"

Anyway, it's weird but I find that Braun is also a very decent D-man and I believe it would be the opinion of most people from the hockey world (players, coaches, executives, ex-players, medias, etc). From what I hear, same thing regarding Ceci.

Obviously, advanced stats are not doing them a lot of justice but, you know, even though I am not against advanced stats but you have to take it with a grain of salt. There's a reason why teams like Florida and Arizona have been building with them as a priority and haven't found a lot of success.

Lol, Florida missed the playoffs by 1 point and Arizona just started out with this stuff. You have to give it time.

Advanced stats is nothing new, I have looked after that for years and of course NHL teams did too, way before it was a "popular" thing among fans. The thing is that every team has a different way to analyze and interpret those stats. I talk to a lot of people "in the show" and constantly listen to them on various medias. We have access to a lot of people who played or were involved in the game here in Montreal and they keep repeating how going "all in" in advanced stats is foolish and not a thing that the vast majority of NHL franchises do. They take it on consideration as a complimentary information to the rest of the knowledge they have. Of course you have the right to believe in whatever you want though...

"... Edmonton gets perfect winger for McDavid"

Edmonton already has perfect winger for McDavid: Ryan Nugent-Hopkins.
