Overpaying Arizona for Domi. Strome should actually fetch more than just Domi alone.

Neither Vancouver nor Edmonton should make that trade: Vancouver is getting straight up hosed and Edmonton should want nothing to do with Eriksson, especially at the cost of RNH and Benning. I'd rather keep Lucic and buyout Russell.

I disagree that you are overpaying for Domi, but I agree that Vancouver declines the RNH trade.

The only thing Domi has going for him is potential. Strome is a known quantity and has had identical statistical "blips" in exaggerated production similar to how Domi has. They're at most, equivalent. One's also a natural center, and the other has had public history of not being happy in the desert. I don't see where you have room to disagree.

Domi gets more points than Strome and is 2 years younger. Strome just can't produce very well even with McDavid sometimes as his linemate. Domi has less skilled linemates to play with and can still produce really well.

Only time they played together was PP which was a gongshow, no matter who was on ice with McDavid. Strome played most the year with lucic and struggling Puljujarvi, can't say Strome had better linemates.

Strome played less than 80 minutes with McDavid all season (at evens). He produces like a typical #3C, which he is. If you want to bring up poor linemates, may I interest you in one slightly (read: very) bad Milan Lucic, who at the end of the season was stapled to Strome's LW? Or how about one of the other AHL-ers that the Oilers opted to employ this season? Connauton, Murphy, and Rinaldo all appear in Domi's splits incredibly rarely and toward the end of the season. I believe his most common linemates were a combination of Strome, Keller, Stepan, and Fischer. None of those guys are bums. Side-by-side, Domi might be inflated by his teammates. When you take them away, he fails to produce (see the 2016-17 season).

The Oilers want a shooting winger alongside McDavid. Domi is not a proven goal scorer at the NHL level (fwiw, I don't believe Rattie to be "the guy" either). Arizona has been notably shopping him since before mid-February and iirc he's not keen on staying in Arizona. Both guys have RFA control. Again, at best it's a 1-for-1 deal. Otherwise, the Coyotes need to shore up the difference between trading a #3C for a #3LW who can play #2LW supposedly.

mmmm Domi played with Keller and Stepan as his most common linemates this year - id call both a HUGE upgrade over Lucic and Caggiula
