Why would ottawa trade for Tyler Myers? I mean honestly thats a steal if we did but I don't see any use for Myers in ottawa. I think stastny wants to stay in the Peg and seeing him work with Laine so far is great. It would be a smart move

Just a guess, but I'm figuring at his age, he'll want to grab a longer deal and he should have plenty of options with weak UFA pool this summer (sans Tavares). Of course that could change if he wins it all with WPG this year. FWIW I've heard he moved his family from STL to WPG so he could've been thinking long-term (or not, maybe he just likes his family )

I'd love to extend Stasney but he basically has to be off the books to extend Laine, Connor and re-up Wheeler after next season. Can't do a 2 year deal.

As a Sens fan, I'd disagree, I'd do this trade. If we would get Myers for that price I'd then flip Ceci away (salary of Myers = Ceci extension + Pyatt). Myers is the better defenceman and would help round out the RHD behind Karlsson.

Myers with his one year of till UFA can really only be traded to a "win now" team, to maximize return. If his injury sustained last night is serious, his summer trade value plummets. Tavares, Stastny, Thornton are really the only premier UFA centres Gonna be lots of competition for Stastny services.

Oh yeah, as a sens fan id love this trade, but I just don't see It making sense to Winnipeg front office. Trouba Myers and Morrissey are a solid top 3, I would want to add not take away from it
