If you want to do that, You have to find a team that is the opposite and wanting to move players. CGY wants to make the playoffs as much as the Hawks. Adding picks isn't going to help them any time soon.

IMO Chicago has no choice but to retool and trading that 1st rounder is so far out of the question its absurd to even mention. If there is one team in need of a top end talent prospect, its Chicago. Especially if it ends up being a top flight RHD like a Dobson or Bouchard. Chicago has won their cups. Now they need to take a couple years to rebuild a winner for the next few years down the line.

CGY also has no 1st round pick in this draft because of the Hamonic trade. I'd have to think they're open to acquiring a top 10 pick that can help them soon. Toews and Kane are still in their primes, Saad is only 25. If the hawks can revamp their D core and add some speed, they can contend again.

While I agree with the title this would be selling the future for now. I don't think Hamilton and Bennett give us a cup though. At the higher level I guess I side with @F50marco more so. If we can get young high end talent that...will certainly help offset declining vets. Additionally, the ELC contract itself will allow for UFAs like a Carlson or JVR or Matt Duchene...Artemi??? next year. The younger guys on ELCs have (3) years on sub $1M contracts. That's huge for the Blackhawks and gives them more optionality.

I cant believe anyone would even consider trading the Hawks first round pick this year.....The Hawks need young studs... Heck, I wouldn't be shocked if Bowman acquired another first round pick or uses the Nashville pick to move up in the draft... Like the Nashville pick & Anisimov for a pick between #10 and #15...

Because by the time these "Young studs" develop, the core superstars will be declining. And then the team will be declining regardless of who is drafted. Mind as well use Crow's prime years and go all in.

Whoever the Hawks take in the top 10 this year they will be playing in the NHL in 2019-2020 season..

The Hawks won't have a team if they continue to deal their picks...

I'm 100% opposed to firing Bowman but if he traded the Hawks top 10 pick, he should be fired..

This is an awesome draft, the Hawks will walk away from this draft with a stud..
