Sabres sign Neal, trade ROR, deal involving CAR, for Ellis, Sheary

Created by: CuyahogaKid

Description
Now as far as the Ryan Ellis deal, yes Nashville would love to extend him in sure, but when his contract is up, we’re looking at Roman Josi in a contract year. It is rare that a team will sign three defenseman to 7+ million deals. I think with Dante Fabbro, Alex Carrier, and Jack Daugherty in the golf there, I could see Nashville flipping Ellis if the right deal is there. Ryan O’Reilly to Nash directly does not make sense but if a third team got involved, it could work.

To get Ellis to Buffalo, a fourth team would need to get involved and that would likely be Montreal or Carolina.

The main issue here with Jeff Skinner his he has a NTC. Buffalo could use Skinner, BUT he would likely refuse a deal here. However, he waives to come to Buffalo because there is an impending follow up deal where he is flipped to Nashville around Ryan Ellis.

Hahaha! Love the trade! Seems to fit all sides very well! Our D actually looks legit. Ellis is the exact player that D needs.
That Stastny signing would take a bit of the sting out of loosing O'Reilly. He would be able to keep Mitts a bit more sheltered. Like the Sheary trade as well!
    Very solid!!

Really like Gibbons as 4th line center too. I don't know any thing about Foegele. Hope he has wheels!

Interesting... but it’s kinda tough to see it all working out
    Maybe some of it though

    And seriously, with Vanek AGAIN
He’s slow & we need to get faster
Why is it so hard for u to make a team without him?
    Vanek... is NOT... coming back...
He’s gonna get offers from Cup contenders
And yes, I’m sure that winning a Cup is more important than playing with an old friend (who u have sitting in the Press box anyways)

Nashville are flush at lw so they really don't need skinner. maybe if sabres throw do much money at ellis he signs, but after tasting success, he probably wants to go on a competitive team . same with Stastny, maybe he can a few more dollars with sabres, but he may want to go to a contender late in his career.

Clever idea, but I suspect retaining Ellis is a higher priority for the Preds than is presumed here.
