GMBots shakes his head as he wonders why oh why oh why does Montreal think that I will just give away ROR..... the Canadians want ROR for:

    1 year of Galchenyuk
A salary cap dump of a defenseman (I just got of one of those in Gorges)
A young LW that went a bit sideways in 17/18
A 2nd Round pick in 2019 so two draft classes away

Sorry MB you should lose my number until you are ready to make a serious offer.

MTL Fan= I like those ideas but need some tweakkkks
Minny: 1st pick is toooo muuuch... take it out and retain 2M on Alzner and the deal becomes more fair
Det: MTL would need to add a liitle as Mantha for Zadina is even... and Scherby won't get you 6OA pick... add 2018 High 2rd pick #36...or maybe 2019 1st!!! or simply ask for AA instead with your package.
    Buff: Fair enough for me!
Adding Brodin, ROR + Mantha would be insane... at any cost!
At #6... I would choose Wahlstrom... NHL ready in one year for big minutes @ 2C

Kenny Holland agrees. Let's leave Mantha and Scherbak out of this (Because one is a tonne better than the other).

What is one of Detroit's biggest needs? Defence. Who will still be available at 6? At least one of Boqvist, Bouchard or Dobson. Am I giving up my second best player to move up and STILL pick one of those guys? Nahhhh.

    This isn't the NFL draft.

    hahahah I don't 100% agree Wagsnag:
CHucky as 2 years left @ a very good price... and he make the same amount of pts than ROR... that's why giving Lehko + good 2nd seems to be fair IMO.
In regards of Schlemko... lets not spend anytime on him :-) no real value!

So MN loses 2M in cap space, one of their only prospects who scores goals, their 1st, gets a lot older, has to take alzers horrible contract, and gets a year of patches a 2nd & De La Rose??? Yikes

The Detroit trade is interesting but I think you would have to replace Scherbak with an interesting D to entice them. We would also have to see who's still available at #6. Buffalo trade is risky, Chucky and Lehkonen can produce 50 goals combined and ROR won't.

I stand corrected that Chucky does have 2 years left..... I stand by first post GMBots flat out says this is not enough for him to move ROR.

Thank you for pointing out my error it is very much appreciated....

Always like reading these posts and seeing people list out everything bad about a trade without acknowledging the good.

The Detroit trade needs to be AA not Mantha, they still have high hopes for him and Larkin together. But it does give them a shot at getting to unite the Russian brothers if Carolina goes with Zadina.

The Buffalo trade is actually one of the fairest Iv seen on here. I don’t think Schlemko would be a part of it though, more likely a Josh Brooks or maybe even a young goalie prospect since MTL has a couple and Buffalo isn’t that deep in their talent pool there. I would also replace Lehkonen for Byron, Buffalo has an absolutely horrible defensive capability from their forwards, ROR was really the only player that knew what he was doing his own zone, Byron helps them on the penalty kill and defensive zone situations.

I don’t like the Minnesota trade for Minnesota for the sole reason that their left wing would be an aging one that with a Pacioretty extension would be expensive. Minnesota may not have the cap space to hold onto Coyle in the future but that’s something they can fix before it happens.

It’s a better return then Colorado got for a then 24 year old entering his prime Ryan O’Reilly. Got to remember that by he end of his deal he will be in his 30’s and you dot know what your going to be paying $7.8 million for.

What does the Colorado deal have to do with what is going to happen NOW...... that has absolutely no bearing on today and tomorrow.

The offer for ROR would not be considered by GMBots..... plain and simple..... does it matter if there is a quality element in a trade that is a no? What ROR offers to the Sabres is worth more than 2 years of Chucky, a cap dump in Schlmeko, a bottom 6 LW & a draft pick in 2 years.

The team published obviously believes in ROR since they made him the teams #1C...... I guess that should not even be considered in the equation.

Just because he would be our #1 C doesn’t mean he is an elite #1 center. He can play as a #1 but he is still only a 60 point guy who specializes more in the defensive zone. Adding more value to this trad le would paying the price for an elite #1 center.

The basic value of the trade is there, four pieces, one elite piece, two more pieces that fill needs and are usable, plus a decently high pick. As I said in my other post Schlemko probably gets subbed out, but the value is there, just look at the trade history of the NHL.

As the saying goes reasonable people will differ.... I differ on what you deem value...... I will take that 60 points, defensive zone prowess, his ability to play PK & PP and face off dominance over the assets being offered.....
