Tavares to Pittsburgh (read description)

****THIS WILL NOT HAPPEN****

In a recent "30 Thoughts" by Elliotte Friedman, he had mentioned that, purely by his own guess, he could see Rutherford staying up late at night trying to find a way to make it work.

Will it work? No, that'd be crazy.

BUT, if it were to work, this is an example of the insanity that would have to happen to fit everything in place given the expected salary cap jump to $78 million (Tavares salary based on the fact that I don't think any player will be paid more than Malkin or Crosby if they signed in Pittsburgh)

That sjs second is going to turn into a first when Kane resigns. Not giving up a first for cap dump hagelin

I'm sure Rutherford will try to pull it off, but there are so many dominos that need to fall for it to happen like you mentioned

Think the only way to convince Tavares is to say he'll be at LEAST #2 center.

Yeah well then John Tavares wont be signing in Pittsburgh then, Because no way does he sign a one year deal for less then $10 million per.

I'm saying this won't happen, I know it won't. But if it were to happen, Tavares would have to take a bit less, could play the wing potentially.
In reality, he's going to want to be THE guy on a good team

would be even worse because tavares will get a 7 year 11.5m -12.5m a year deal, hagelin is not going to get the pens a 2nd rounder even if his contract is retained, and nobody will trade for hunwick so ya you are right. never gunna happen.

Exactly from what's being reported, If he leaves the Isles JT wants to go where he can be the #1C plus and the star player of said team. Unfortunately that's not going to happen in Pittsburgh with Crosby and Malkin.

Honestly, if he doesn't resign, I think he is going out west. Several teams that have the space and he could help get them over the top potentially (San Jose, Vegas, etc)
