Description

At the draft, Nashville trades PK Subban, Kevin Fiala, and Ryan Hartman to Edmonton for Leon Draisaitl, Adam Larsson, and the 10th overall pick 2018. Now with Draisaitl as 2C, Nashville turns around and trades Kyle Turris to Montreal for Max Pacioretty.

Fallout:
Nashville gets a 2C upgrade and a slight 2LW upgrade while downgrading their top D. The 10th overall pick is used to draft a LHD like Ty Smith who can be brought in to upgrade their bottom pairing. Predators also sign Dante Fabbro to help round out their dgroup.

Edmonton: Upgrade their defense and get two speedy wingers. Fiala can play beside McDavid and Hartman helps round out the bottom 6 RW while adding some speedy grit.

Montreal: Gets a high end 2C that can fill in for 1C should they fall flat in the UFA market (Tavares, Statsny, Etc).

Definitely a very interesting NASH-EDM trade, but I don't think NASH makes any deal involving Subban unless they really get blown away. Just look at what happened to Montreal after he left. Sure, Montreal does not have the forward depth or elite D that the Preds have, but I am not sure they are willing to tempt fate.

Edmonton come out as big losers in that trade. Giving up a top-10 pick, an elite offensive talent, and a solid top 4 defenseman.. For a 1/2 defenseman and 2 two-way wingers.

Anybody think Nashville even does that Turris deal? They have enough depth everywhere (except maybe in net). They dont need Patches.
