If Karlsson gets traded then it's pretty much guaranteed that there is an extension coming right with it. Whether his contract runs for 5 more or 1 more that is completely irrelevant for a player of his caliber.
If Karlsson played on Edmonton he would be putting up 100 point seasons. He's lead the team in scoring for like 4 seasons in a row.
On a team with another generational talent in McDavid, this trade would pay dividends. The powerplay would be insane.
Besides the 10th overall won't come into play much later on, and there are plenty of UFAs that can come in to replace Nurse.
Getting both 10th and Nurse might be a bit overzealous tho, so maybe only one of them.

You really don't understand, you're just living a fantasy that the Sens are going to get full playing value for EK. There is NO guarantee he is going to sign if traded. It's EK's right to go to free agency. Stop dreaming that a trade ensures full trade value for Ottawa. And sorry to inform you, term is very important when making trades. It is very relevant. If Sens management hangs on to this nonsensical belief that Karlsson signs with his newly traded team and the term isn't important, Karlsson is going be a Senator till July 1 2019, and see what Karlsson's value is to the Senators then.....ZERO.

No guarantee he resigns plus I'd rather keep all three then have Karlsson neither drai or nurse have hit there prime plus Karlssons ankle is mangled he is also 28 why give up the future for him when it we really want him wait till July 1st sn try and sign him
