In a NHL where the cap is 80 milllion yes he does. De la Rose is really coming into his own as shown by his play the second half of the season and at the world championships... next year can be a breakout year

Canes thank you for two expiring contracts and bare 26 year old NHLer? You really think that gets you Hanifan and a pick? Good for De la Rose, but really the world championships are kinda meaningless for evaluating players and their NHL abilities.

Here's what your best case is in a Patches trade if you do it this summer:
Mid-Late first round pick + So/so prospect.

Think something along the lines of the Evander Kane trade.

You're not getting a top 4 defenceman, especially one that is 21 years old.

Patches is coming off of the worst seasons of his career, regressed significantly, and had a season ending injury. Best bet for the Habs right now is to hold on to him until the trade deadline and pray that he rebuilds some of his value.
