I spoke to them just before and they said they were interested?

Detroit wants to bring up young players. Not bring in another older mediocre defenseman

Ouellett is already 24 and is barely a 6th dman on a bad Detroit team. Benn is older but plays the right side too and produces way better than Ouellett has..... And is cheaper.

Whatever I really don't care, I just think Detroit wouldn't say automatically say no to this deal because it makes them better in every way and doesn't get in the way of them getting younger. Ouellett won't be part of the future for Detroit for very much longer at the rate he's going.

Heck you could probably trade Benn at the deadline for more then you could Ouellett anyway so its a win in just about every category. Frankly MTL shouldn't do this trade but you know "french" so......

Thank you for taking the time to create a team
Five stars for wanting O'Reilly
I think Botterill would make this trade.
Let's make a deal! smile

Detroit has been trying to move some youth up. Bringing in Benn makes no sense. We are gonna give a roster spot to a defensive defenseman when we have capable players in our AHL team

Sure they did? Realistically Ouellet is only worth a 2019 6th or 2019 7th round pick. Nothing more.

I know it just doesn't make sense to automatically say "no" to trade of a player that isn't going to be part of the new regime, is worse, gets paid marginally less and has less experience. Is what I'm saying. There is no draw back to making this trade for Detroit. Anyways this is such an insignificant deal that who the **** cares?

lol. Similarly as with Benn who I would rate at a 4th rounder at best, more likely a 5th. I could care less about this trade but Detroit saying no is basically unwarranted. I would do this trade just to move Benn at the TDL to get a better return than with Ouellett. This is a no brainer.
