Vegas says no, Vancouver says no, that Pittsburgh trade is brutal. The other 3 don't seem too bad. Personally I rather keep the picks as a Flyers fan but Gallagher's a good player. As unrealistic as this is, it's always fun to do this on NHL18 GM Mode lol

Almost feel like this would be too much as a gm. I know I’d feel pressured when 7 first round picks don’t turn out how you expect them to. But it does give you some opportunity to move up and down in the draft

Why, in the name of all that is hockey, would Vegas ever, ever, ever, ever............ever, ever ,ever make that trade. Blackmail? Extortion? A massive blow to the head?

IMO I'm overpaying them. Do you think I should give them more $$$ ?

I doubt any amount of $$$ is cutting it. Players want financial security, that's why they want to take cap hit discounts in favour of longer term.

So what do you think Stastny e.g. would get in free agency?

I think something around 6x4 or 5.5x5 would get it done. I'd give him that, he's a good UFA target for us imo.

He would be 37 at the end of a 5 year deal. Obviously if the term gets longer, the cap hit gets lower. I wouldn't offer him a 7 year deal, there's no pressure to take that kinda risk, but some other team that's closer to the cap and wants to compete for a cup at the moment might.

Considering 5 of the 1st rnd picks I acquired are in the top 10, I don't really need to try to move any higher.

Valid point but for this to be more realistic you’d probably be better off acquiring a couple future first round picks instead of going for it all in one year especially if you’re going to be entering the “dark ages.” Like for example galchenyuk or Gallagher would be a better fit for Vegas than Detroit/philly, and vise versa with price, he’d be a better fit with philly or Detroit just based off team needs

Lol I don't want the dark ages to literally last as long as the actual "dark ages"! Price wouldn't waive his NMC to go to Detroit. Philly has carter hart in the pipeline, they won't take Price.

My philosophy in this scenario is to establish a chemistry between all these drafted players in the farm for a few years, and then bring them all up together. That'll take 4-5 yrs (the dark ages). In the mean time I'll give short term contracts to plug ins (pretty much anyone), I'll overpay if I have to.

I'll give him 6mill×4 yrs. Front load years 1+2 (16 mill combined) . No NMC+NTC.
