@mnbassman definitely isn't a big fan of spurgeon but I think this trade is definitely worth looking at the value here. Spurge is underrated but numbers and analytics wise I would say he's fairly similar to a right handed Vatenen or slightly worse than Barrie. Im not sure I would move him for those two picks, and im all for the wild moving some guys and rebuilding even. Maybe with a prospect on top that the wild like it works, I would assume a forward where they're thin (Räsänen?). That D core looks excellent though, this team gets vastly better with spurge there.

Honestly, that Bassman guy is ******* idiot. He think Spurgeon is going to lose a step at 29 years old. He also thinks he's one of the worst defenseman in the league. Either bassman is a really good troll, or he doesn't ACTUALLY watch Wild hockey. Truth be told, swapping Spurgeon for Brodin is more likely, and probably a more fair value for both teams.

You need to work on your reading skills. I never said any of that. I have stated I AM CONCERNED about what happens when Spurgeon loses a step...which will happen, and when it does...he is done. He might very well play at his current level for 10 more years. Not many have a higher hockey IQ than he does...so if anyone can figure out how to maintain his play as he gets older, it will be Spurgeon. However, father time waits for no one, so...

Also, I think he's a terrific player...just not my favorite "type" of player. I prefer big, mean, and nasty d-men with good skill to small, finesse guys with crazy skills.

Anyways, if you are 10 years old, I apologize for the reading comment...

What would the Oilers say to: Spurgeon and Brodin for the rights to Darnell Nurse, Caleb Jones or Ethan Bear, and the #10 pick? It can be broken down as: Brodin for Nurse and Spurgeon for Bear or Jones and the #10 pick.

Yeah, I could live with Räsänen added to the trade.

Which is why it's a silly trade, it doesn't really help either team. Bassman is an idiot, period.

YOU were the one who suggested Brodin (LHD), not Bassman. He suggested Spurgeon (RHD) which is something the Oilers would be interested in.

Who's the idiot now?

You've made that comment on a few of the 100's of these that you make every day. It's funny because there is an absolute consensus among the Wild community that you're an utter moron. I am a little older than 10, but if that's what you need to tell yourself after being called out on your ****, good on you man. Whatever it takes for you to live with it.

Spurgeon's not losing a step any time soon. You've said in multiple other posts that he's one of the worst in the league. You can backtrack all you want, but the reality is Spurgeon should not be a trade piece because of how under valued he is by the rest of the league.

You can comment on my age all you want, it does nothing, you look even more like a rattled troll when you start pulling in the "you're 10 years old card". Kick rocks ya dustpan.

I was using Brodin as a comparison for value, not saying lets trade Brodin. We should be keeping both, the focus on moving a D man is ******* stupid. If we're moving any d man, it should be Dumba because he will return a good offensive value most likely, whereas Spurgeon or Brodin would be pieces along with other players or picks. We could trade Dumba for a talented top 6 forward, we could not do the same with Brodin or Spurgeon outright. I stand by what I said, Bassman is an idiot, trading either player is short-sighted as hell. Me saying swap them does not = me saying LET'S TRADE BRODIN.

No one is an idiot except Bassman.

You called me an idiot, how about you take the high road before doing that? Not after I have to reiterate my message.

I don't see how trading a (soon to be) 29 year old defenseman for younger prospects and picks is "short-sighted as hell." But...I'm an idiot, so that should be expected...
