Description
Just trade Con and Orpik, sign Kovey and profit. That offense is nasty: two 1st lines, a 2nd line, and a 3rd line. Look at the PP units. Unfair. If Caps need more room they can trade one of Holtby or Grubauer, which will happen anyways.

    Not a bad concept by any stretch.

    Only issue I have is come 2019-2020 we'll have Vrana, Burkie, Stephenson and Djoos all needing to get paid and nobody coming off the books $$$ wise. If the assumption is Samsonov is ready by then, I get it - as trading Holts would clear space and help to restock the system. I'd love it if Kovy would take a 1 year deal, but it doesnt seem like he's interested in doing so.

    For sure. That was definitely an issue was thinking about as I was making this but win a Cup with this then cross that bridge. The 2 best answers to creating space are moving Holtby or Niskanen. Kovey on a 1 year deal would be perfect.

    True. I'm really interested to see how Bowey develops, as a big step up next year could really help this team long term from a planning perspective. Sidenote - you nailed the $ amounts and term on the UFA & RFA signings. Would love to see Kempny back for a year or two, (wouldn't mind Jerabek either as a 7D). Really hope we throw 5 years at Tom (little worried about him as he gets towards 30 with how he's thrown his body around). I really hope GMBM makes an effort to extend Vrana preemptively this offseason as well. Locking him in at 4/5 years ~$3 - $3.5mm would be huge for future roster planning.

    Agree with all of that 100%! Bowey developing into a 2nd pair dman would be perfect for us. Think Hobbs could do it to but he's years away from that.

    I'm hoping Kempny isn't pricing himself out of Washington. He's been amazing for us. Love Jerabek too. If he'll take less than $1M i'm all for it.

    That's why I kept Wilson at 6 years, because like you said, the way he plays his body could decline quicker than most. I'm hoping they sign Vrana 8 year $4M w/o going into a bridge deal. If they do, he could come out of it getting $6M+.

    That all may be true, but Christian Djoos will get at least 100 goals so it should cover all of that.
