With the open free agency negotiation period, it really doesn't make any sense to give up a 1st for "negotiating rights". Why not keep the 1st and just wait until July 1? Even if rights are traded, you still can't sign him for 8 years. Only the Isles can sign 8 years.

The last thing Leafs are looking to do is trade for "at best" a second pairing LD. Bodie's name keeps coming up but there simply not a fit with the Leafs. Peddle him somewhere else.

And Kapanen definitely isn't getting it done. Needs better than that.

It's not from 2018, but it's something. I don't see Rielly or Gardiner or Zaitsev or Hainsey on here anywhere.
