As a Carolina fan i keep flip flopping on whether I would want this.

Anisimov / Forsberg vs Rask / Darling is pretty much a wash

So i start to question whether Saad is the best we can do for Faulk

put me down for "on the Fence"

Really like what you are doing, but a couple changes I would make.

1) Not sure on Derek or Riley Nash...both should be about the same price. Nash is younger but not quite as good at the dot.
2) That's at least $250K too much for Hino on a bridge, nor would I play him on the #1 LW.
3) Plenty of room to bring in a true #1 LW like JVR....great fit for this GM team.
4) Bring a vet D guy....John Moore i like a lot at the #3 position behind Kieth. Put Forsling or Jokiharju in the AHL and there is a room in the cap.

So adding JVR and Moore would complete this team in such a good way with options.

I don't understand why so many people think that if Chicago is getting Faulk that Saad is going the other way. I highly doubt we trade Saad, it would make more sense to put in Nashville's first

I agree with you. It's not like Bowman to sell low. He trades away players due to cap space.

As for the NYI trade. I'd be ok with a forsling swap if they prefer. NYI has another pick and they get a lot back. I could see it.

Just because the Hawks aren't likely to ship off Saad to Carolina, doesn't mean they don't need a winger like him. Since this is armchair GM, Nick is offering a fair trade that Carolina would likely accept. You'll notice that this is the first time @CanesQue hasn't said "pass" on one of these Hawks teams...

Agree that Vinnie is overpaid, but in my mind he's overpaid by $500k here. He hasn't done anything to earn more than 1.25, and that's damned generous, on a cap strapped team.

Trades are solid Nick, but leaving this unfinished without free agents and 10 mil in cap space is unlike you. You're usually very thorough. Would like to see what you would do with that cap space.

Hinostroza notched 25 points and didn't even play 60 games. He's got great hands and speed, he reminds me a lot of Viktor Arvidsson's career growth in Nashville. Saad was very flat the entire season, I don't see how he's worth 6 million, if the hawks keep him and he bounces back, great. But I'm not opposed to moving him for D help and a strong face off C. As for the cap space, Sikura played well, Kotkaniemi is real close to NHL ready, I think Wahlstrom is NHL ready his shot is ridiculous, Kahun was signed with the same bonus potential Panarin was signed to so I think he will be fighting for a spot. Schmaltz scored a lot as a C but his face off percentage really hurt the hawks possession, so Ryan is another good signing. It's real interesting because, with 10 million in space you could get a JVR at 6.5, but then you have 3.5 million in space. And when Schmaltz, Forsling and Kampf need new contracts, that 3.5 will not suffice. I know Kampf and Forsling are role players right now, but I think they both could be very important to this team next year.
JackBurton liked this.

I actually thought I was the minority. Because Carolina is likely trading Skinner instead of resigning him, so getting Saad as his replacement makes the deal much more enticing than the 27th pick.

Assuming Tavares is gone: Anisimov, Duclair & 27th overall to the NYI for 12th overall.

Hossa, Forsberg & 2019 1st round pick for Faulk & Darling (25% retained)

I've talked to a couple NYI fans on here and they wouldn't take Duclair Murphy Forsling and 27th for 12th. I doubt they do that. Also doubt Carolina would make that move.
