My Buffalo Sabres 2018-2019 Roster

Created by: sauce63
Team: 2018-19 Buffalo Sabres
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 10, 2018
Published: Jun. 10, 2018
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
This is my team for next years Sabres. They arent great but in a trade with Carolina they acquire a 1st round pick which would make 3 in 2019 draft. With the Sabres lack of depth at wing, I have them signing Tyler Ennis in a "prove it deal" after being bought out by Minnesota.

Who would join Robin Lehner for the goaltender tandem for Carolina? Cam Ward is not expected to re-sign with Carolina.

I would replace Scott Darling with Jeff Skinner. The Sabres need a player who can score goals and play with goons. Skinner is that player.

I do not understand the logic of bringing back Tyler Ennis. His production decreased. He has an injury history.

It is painful indeed. If Jeff Skinner and Justin Faulk were offered for Ryan O'Reilly, then trade discussions could proceed seriously.

Not even those two are of any interest to me, Faulk is a one trick pony and Skinner would be likely a rental.

I’m with the others here
Bean just isn’t a good enough prospect to be the major piece for moving ROR
The 1st is nice, but we’ve gotta do better

Also,
I see the 2nd part of the trade as Lehner for Darling & a 4th
If we are taking that contract off their hands (which I’m not really a fan of)...
then we definitely need more than a 4th for doing so

If u took O’Reilly & the picks out of the trade...
Bean & taking Darling’s contract
for
Lehner

That’s probably in the ballpark of a fair deal

It is highly unlikely Skinner waives his MNTC to come to buffalo.
Carolina is also in no position to move out established pieces, they’re adding ROR so they can make the playoffs next season they aren’t trading their top winger and top d man. Buffalo is getting back Bean who is a former 1st round pick as well as another first, taking in darlings salary and swapping lehner. Lehner has not worked here and could very likely be a starter in Carolina behind a much better defense. Darling is a reliable back up who could be called upon when ullmark goes through his first starting season. I think we could get more for ROR as well I just didn’t really know what else to take. Buffalo gets younger though adds to their blue line and gets another 1st rounder.

Also, Buffalo is in no position to attract any big name free agents specifically wingers which they severely need. Bringing back ennis on a very small contract (think benoit pouliot) could be something they do, It could be a low risk reward type move.

Five stars for trading O'Reilly

Thank you for taking the time to create a post, I know this takes time and no mater what will receive harsh comments.

Let’s presume Bean, J, Darling, S and 2019 1st = O’Reilly + 2019 3rd, the typical return for a player as O’Reilly, a prospect, a young player and a pick.
That leave Darling, S and 2019 3rd for Lehner
IMO that entire package (if one considers Darling a cap dump) is about equal to the value of O’Reilly
Bean, J, Darling, S, Darling, S, 2019 3rd and 2019 1st for O’Reilly
