I'll explain list of events.

Kessel reunites with Toochet and Coyotes acquire a top goal scorer. Pens get some much needed draft picks and rights to sign the rumored Domi.

Pens than use excess money from Phil to land JT from NYI.

Pens than trade Sheary for Paul Martin and Hunwick to Leafs for Hainsey to solidify the D depth.

Why would Tavares take like $5M under market value just to play for the Pens when he can make market value with the Sharks or Knights or dare I say even the Habs

I honestly don't think Tavares will go to Pittsburgh but if he did this is how it'd have to work..Kessel out and JT in.

I do think Tavares wants to win over the $$. I think NYI want to pay JT but I think JT has an issue with the team doesn't put a winning team on the ice around him. Grant it arena situation was not his fault and was unfortunate but that's just my take on it. I think JT wants to win like Ovie/Toews/Crosby. $7M vs $10M, it doesn't really matter at that point if you haven't won, does it?

P.S. Not a shot to NYI as a team...they have incredible history there. I just think past ownership completely dropped the ball starting with the whole DiPietro debacle.

Tavares isn't going to sign anywhere for $7M. Tavares isn't going to sign anywhere for only 5 years. Tavares isn't going to sign anywhere to be 3C.

Kessel for Domi's rights a 2nd and a 3rd would push the Naslund deal for the worst in Penguins history. Not sure if that is under valuating of Kessel or over evaluation of Domi or both.

Neither Martin nor Hainsey fit Sullivan's plan.

If you're trading Hunwick for Hainsey, to "solidify the defence", why would the Leafs make the trade?
