Grubauer is good but he's not gonna be enough to move you up from 27 to 6.

Ottawa trade looks pretty fair. Helps them save money, add a Cup ring, get younger and deeper on defense, and add a little more offense. But Ceci's expected to play a big role there this year. Fans seem divided on whether he can move. He was -27 last year with twice as many giveaways as takeaways and only 14 even strength points, but he played a lot of minutes, and had over 150 hits and blocks, which seem to be the Caps' strengths, so adding more of each is good. I've been having a conversation about a similar player, in Ristolainen who would cost more to trade for, and barely broke 100 blocks in 26 minutes a night, but got to 200 hits, and is a year younger, with a little more offense, and signed longer term. Can't really go wrong either way. Great idea!

Larry Brooks is saying that the NYI might be interested in Howard seeing that he's only making $5.3 million for one more season, I really like Grubs but night at that price we can just sign two cheap UFA's this summer if we deal Howard no big deal this team isn't going anywhere any ways.

fair response...but howard's contract is a pretty fat hit. One of the more expensive contracts as a goalie. Don't quite see his value especially cuz he's a UFA...how much progress would a team like the islanders really be making with howard for just a year...all it does is delay the rebuild

Couple of things:

1- the cap hit for Carlson is too low
2- If Orpik is relegated to 7D, then they will buy him out or move him

The caps will never buy out orpik or trade him. Ever. He's very valuable inside the locker room and the whole organization (Coaches, GM, and players) loves him. He will be 38 during the season so reduced minutes/games are probably the best option. Carlson gonna give caps a hometown discount and if he doesn't then, let him walk. You really think he should be on the same type of contract as Letang (7.25m)? Carlson is better offensively, but Letang is 10x the defender. As much as I hate Letang (and boy I really hate him), Carlson is just not as good.
