Maybe, not well versed in what blues think of him. for the right price though I am sure they would be willing to move...might need some tweaking on the package. I dont think caps trade 2023 1st rounder though.

Maybe. swap a pick for a prospect, could even be McMichael

Realistic Fun
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>HockeyIsMyPassion61</b></div><div>Minnesota doesn't have the cap space to fit Kuznetsovs $7.8 mil caphit in.
They'll figure it out.... if low retention is needed. maybe, but I dont think the caps do that. Minnesota needs centers.
And why would Mark Scheifele waive for a team that's trending down in Washington? he grew up a Red Wings fan Yzerman was his idol growing up. I can see Scheifele waiving for a young up and coming Red Wings team. Then a Capitals team that's trending down and heading for a major rebuild once Ovechkin retires.</div></div>
I see his NTC is only 10 teams, doubt the caps would be on it as usually it is the bottom rung of nhl teams with zero playoff hopes... so he may not have a choice. caps take a chance that he has a good year and wants to re-sign. at this point its year by year trying to build a better roster, otherwise they might as well hang onto picks and maintain status quo of either getting a wild card or missing out...this is the type of bold move Brian McClellan makes

I disagree, he has been a very good GM for the Caps...some bad but a lot of good moves...the playoff failures have either been players, injuries, or coaching

Going for 3peat
I was somewhat trolling on the team name, I like the current caps team chances to repeat but it does take luck and skill to win in the playoffs, every team needs both to win...caps certainly are not the favorite but they weren't last year either..so who knows...what about the moves though? Is the Niskanen trade fair? Does the Bura re-signing make sense? Hopefully Connolly lives up to the contract, would he get more as UFA?

After Orpik and Grubauer
Beagle would be insulted with that contract. other teams could use him as a 3C and that would require a salary bump to the 2-3M range

I dont think Orpik or the caps would want to sign him up for 7D, and for 2 years???? Nope
Green- cap hit too low 5M+
Bowey- cap hit too high 750-900k
Carlson- too low 8M+
Beagle- too low 2M+

the Saad trade would never happen and your cap hit on Beagle is too low. He's going to get 2-3M for a 2-4yr deal (not necessarily from the Caps). Book it

from Carolina standpoint not sure that trade makes sense for them...Turris needs elite players around him to be great...and now he has a long term deal, his play with the

Freddy Andersen was traded for a first and second round pick. So that’s the going rate. Not something I made up off the top of my head</div></div>
Lehner had another player with him for the 1st rounder. The other two were gross over-pays. Here are the most recent goalie trades with actual strong comparables to Grubauer:
Scott Darling- 3rd round pick
Petr Mrazek- 4th round pick and conditional 3rd
The Caps are not going to re-sign Grubauer and teams know it. They wont get those high returns

What do you think the going rate for a borderline starting goalie is? Grubi has not established himself as a full time starter...the goal in trading Skinner is to get rid of his cap number ahead of his last year of contract before going UFA...Dundon loves to cut costs and spend on player he would deem his own (Skinner was already there so not one of his guys)

what dont you understand? trade the bad contracts, cut cost and then go in with the cash for the 2019 free agency period. Pretty easy to understand

You may be right..if it came to a bidding war and I was WSH, I'd up the 2018 pick to a 2nd and make the 2019 a conditional 1st --1st, 2nd, 1st ('19) + Vrana (1st in 2014)

Get the right Karlsson
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Eli</b></div><div>I'm confused. The title clearly says, "get the right Karlsson," and then there's no mention of William.
Plus for some reason you've let John Carlson walk, which is totally unrelated, because he actually plays defense. Erik Karlsson might get more ppg than JC, but he took a little over 5% more shifts starting in the offensive zone this year and wound up worse by -25. So the other team gets a lot more ppg off EK, too.
I wouldn't trade Vrana for him, straight up.</div></div>
I'm not big on plus/minus for comparing players on different teams...Ottawa was a bad team with average (maybe even below average tending, I dont care to look it up)...Washington was not...you let Carlson walk to free up cap space to make a big splash...he'll be good for the next 3-4 years, but the last 3-4 years of a long term contract for him are going to be brutal...already slow skater, he'll just get slower
