Description
--I've been working on this for a few days but now that the Karlsson/Hoffman story has come out, it seems even more plausible.
--That being said I don't expect the preds to make any moves this summer though, in this particular case, I wish they would.

Anyone can make trades where their team wins the trade and they come out on top. I like to take the opposite approach.
Non of these trades should favor Nashville since we would be paying a premium to get teams to do what we're wanting.
I signed players based on what I've seen other people signing them for(or Matt Cane's projection) or based on Arvidsson's arbitration contract numbers from last year adjusted for the higher cap.

Nashville starts by signing Tavares for 7 years at $10.6/year(we have the cap space before resigning RFAs and can send players down to make room if we sign RFAs first).

Once JT is signed, Nashville signs Ellis to a 6 year $6.5/year extension; followed by a three way trade between Nashville, Ottawa, and Edmonton.

Nashville gives Ottawa Ryan Johansen, Ryan Ellis, good RHD prospect Frédéric Allard and a 2019 2nd for Erik Karlsson signed to a 8 year $10.5/year extension.

Nashville then trades Erik Karlsson and Filip Forsberg, as well as C prospect Yakov Trenin a 2019 1st and a 2020 2nd, for Connor McDavid and Cagguila signed for 4 years at $1.5/year.

Now that Nashville has two #1 Centers, they can trade Kyle Turris to the Canadians for Brendan Gallagher and Nicolas Deslauriers.

Next Nashville "dumps" Smith and Bonino. I used Ducks and Coyotes only because they are the first two teams. These are "Cap dumps" for us, but both are good players.
(Smith had 54 points on a 4.25 contract last year and Bonino is a great 3C)

Finish resigning any RFA's we havent already and give Fiala a 6 year $4mil/year extension(Fiala would get $3.6*6 based on Arvy's contract) before he gets to play with McDavid and earns more.

Overall thoughts, Forsberg is a beast is only going to get better. I expect him to hit 80+ next year in Nashville if we dont change anything. And we all know how good EK is.
But if Nashville can get McDavid and Tavares while keeping 3/4 of their defense and not go into cap hell, I feel like we have to go for it.
This also lets Tavares go to a contender, play with his friend Subban, and stay out of the spotlight.

Also keep in mind that Nashville could probably get more value in alot of these trades(especially with Bergivin and Chia involved),
but this is showing how "Worst case" would still end with an amazing team.

Your thoughts?

My problem is the McDavid trade... I know they are getting EK65 and Forsberg... but damn, Chia would never trade our generation's Gretzky / Crosby for any price

Trades are good, Tavares contract is good.

My only issue with this is I doubt Edmonton is willing to trade McDavid.

Yeah, I doubt he'd ever trade McDavid, and I don't blame him. I don't think I could trade that kind of talent away either.

On the other hand, maybe Poile can get ahold of whatever blackmail the other GMs have been using...

This is very interesting if every one of these teams needed a big shake up. I dont think anything is getting McDavid out of Edmonton for a little while. Maybe a few years from now, but its tough to say... In reality though, Forsberg & Karlsson plus a first round pick... Makes you think it could really be possible.
