Latest Rumor - Saad for Faulk

Created by: ChiHawk

Description
Rumors are Car wants Saad for Faulk. Threw in Hossa, but can LITR him also...no biggie. I think this sets off a chain reaction of trades. Murphy or Rutta has to go and Forsling with whoever goes....we have a log jam of 2nd and 3rd pairings at D. I still think AA is gone. The Hawks should grab picks in return for these players to stock up the cupboards. They are going to sign a Center...could be Tavares or Stasny, and a LW likely JVR. From there it will be letting the young guys fill in.

The Hawks won't give Saad for Faulk, plain and simple. Carolina can ask, but Bowman hangs up the phone.

THANK YOU! If we get Faulk, I'd be much more willing to give up Nashville's pick. Saad should not be traded

Agreed, Cans can ask, but thats not happening. Also horrible trade with Mtl. Forsling should get more than that return alone. And for the love of god, please no Stastny

No chance at all that Saad will net a top-four RHD with a lower AAV on their contract. If Saad is traded this offseason, the return will most likely be very disappointing for Hawks fans after the year that he had. Bowman might as well have Saad stick around for the time being in the hopes that he'll bounce back next season.

That just isn't true. You can't look purely at offensive scoring numbers from one season. Saad had incredibly good analytical stats. Frankly, based on those stats, he had an incredibly unlucky year, and partnered with another down year from Toews and inconsistency on the RW, it makes sense. But he won't be that "bad" again next year. His workload this year warranted much better numbers than what he posted. Saad is worth more than an overrated purely offensive defenseman who is no where close to being Carolina's best defenseman. In my book, he is their fourth defenseman behind Slavin, Pesce, and Hanifin.

hawks will not and shouldn't trade saad right now unless the canes really gives bowman a reason to.

What makes you think Forsling should get more then that alone? He hasn't played much and Coach Q obviously doesn't like him. His future is very limited in Chicago with Mitchell, Jokiharju both coming up in the next year or two. Oesterle who has a better contract and has played better and Gus who has shown way more potential are ahead of him as well as Murphy. You're dreaming if you think Forsling is worth a high 2nd round pick; he just isn't.

And regarding Stasny....you're right, who the heck would want a 2C that puts up 50 points and has a 55% FO winning percentage.

I disagree. The Hawks have a big hole in their Defense and let's face it, Keith is slowing down, Seabs is already slow and there is nobody that can play on the 1st line. Oesterle, Murphy, etc.; none of them are 1st liners, Hawks have a log jam in the #4, #5, #6 defensive positions and have been trying to ask those guys to play a #2 and #3 role....it was a disaster last season. Faulk gives the Hawks exactly what they need, a #2 guy. As for the forwards, Hawks have Cat, Kane, Schmatlz, and the upside of Hino, Sikura and Duclair. They have a great young group and need one Vet LW like a JVR. Saad is not made to play the game the Hawks are playing; a faster smaller game which is why Toews and AA along with Saad are struggling. So my interpretation is, Saad for Faulk is not a bad swap and there may be other pieces involved.

Both Saad and Faulk had a down year.

Disagree. Never liked Saad's game and still don't, he's not a great fit for the Hawks playing small fast forwards on the wings. Plus the #1 need for the Hawks is a 1st line defenseman.

MTL trade is crazy lopsided...Anisimov alone gets you that return. For forsling and picks too the hawks better be getting a young NHL level talent or a first back

I think there is more to it, like I have above, a move up to the front of 4th round and Hossa or something of the likes. Teuvo was a major screw up by Bowman; he would be a perfect fit back with the Hawks today and would so Saad for Teuvo straight up but I'm sure Car says no to that.

Forsling plays on the left side, so Jok, Mitchell (who is not guaranteed to be a NHL player), and Murphy don't matter in your argument. I love Gus, more than most, but he's a third pair Dman. Forsling has a high ceiling, thats why he's worth at least a second. And Oesterle is nothing but a fill in. It's all depended on what they do with their current Dmen, but I can easily see Forsling being a fixture on the second pair.

And yeah, I don't like Stasny. He's in his mid thirties and won't live up to his contract after one or two years tops. Schmaltz is and should be the second line center for the years to come

Forsling, the few times he's been on the ice, has look horrible. Maybe he needs more development time, as he has the tools, but just can't put it together. I'd rather have John Moore as the 2nd pairing on the right for now and Gus is in the wings waiting.

Stastny is 32 (early 30s) and a 4 year deal for a lockdown 2C with Schmaltz on the wing is way better. Centers can last into their late 30's...see Thornton. Schmaltz sucks at he dot, 40% FO, and didn't improve much last season. Like Hossa, he is a two way player but like Hossa, play him on the wing.
