You forgot to add Voynov, but this would be fun to watch.

Short term this looks like a legit cup contending team. Long term this could be disasterous. Doughty is due for at least $8 a year, Andreoff is worth close to a mil, Iafallo and Kempe could sign bridge deals to keep cap low but would still have to be at least $1 and $2 respectively. I like the hypothetical of this roster setup but next year would be a tank year

I think this all depends on who Pittsburgh wants in the FA market.. They don't move Kessel and his salary unless they are targeting a big name player - If that's what GMJR is doing, I'd probably be OK with this deal

Kings likely won't trade their 1st round pick since Lombardi was essentially fired for doing exactly that. The Kings have only picked above 29th overall in 2 of the last 7 years.

Additionally, Tobias Reader's qualifying offer has to be at least $2.45M, otherwise he becomes an UFA. If the Kings don't pay that much, he'll be playing elsewhere next season.

Vilardi is likely going to crack the lineup at 3C next year, and one of Carter or Kempe will move to the wing.

Schenn was pretty terrible when he played for LA, so it's unlikely that the Kings will bring him back. It's more likely that Brickley or MacDermid get a shot, or the Kings make a trade for a RHD. Or, you know....Voynov.

Aside from that, sure why not.

I think the Kings would prefer that too. I don't see them trading their 1st round pick.

However, if the Pens want Toffoli and Martinez/Muzzin, they'd have to retain some salary on Kessel (~25%).

I dont see the pens retaining any of phil's salary tbh. But if they were to, it wouldn't be much I think. -25% is a lot for a salary cap team trying to win the cup before their window closes

I don't disagree. I'd be very surprised if Kessel came to the Kings. I just don't think the two teams would make good trading partners since both teams have cap issues and both teams are nearing the end of their windows.

Yeah Kessel is not getting traded. The rumors were blown way out of proportion. Jim Rutherford came out like a week or so ago and he said phil isn't being traded
