Kovalchuk is a non-starter, but i could actually get behind the Montreal trade if more was coming back. I doubt Green wants to play third fiddle for less money than he's accustomed to, but he could potentially be a great depth addition.

The Pens would need to find a new 4th line center though, Blueger has shown flashes but I'm bearish on his ceiling as even a 4th line center in the NHL. Winger possibly, but probably not a center.

Rutherford is not going to sign 35 year old, hasn't played in the NHL for 5 seasons, Kovalchuk to a 3x$6M deal.

His name should be Novalchuk when it comes to the Penguins. We don't want or need him and his attitude and antics. Move on.

I doubt Green wants to play third fiddle for less money than he's accustomed to, but he could potentially be a great depth addition. Bleuger projects pretty much as a defensive minded center from what i have read. Can't say i know that much about him, the article i read questioned his ability to transfer to the wing. But i know nothing more than that.

On a one-year deal i could definitely see Green coming to Pens for chance to win a cup. Kovlachuk had elite level skill, that didn't vanish and he has still been playing hockey.

But at the cost of losing Kessel, who's younger and better? It just doesn't seem worth it to gamble that Kovalchuk will be a serviceable replacement, even with the assets Phil would bring back.
