That Philly trade is pretty (read: very) bad. Mark Stone is far and away the best player in that trade and it's not even close. Myers and Konecny don't come anywhere close to the value of Stone, so the trade doesn't make any sense after that. Sure, you save yourself a bit of cap by offloading Ryan, but it's at the cost of the Sens' best player outside of Karlsson.
I wouldn't take that package for Stone, that's for sure
Yeah, you unload Ryan at 6.0 x 4 years (because retaining 1.3) but you get Lethera dead money for 1 year. Ryan at 6.0 is not too much overpaid. He is still very capable top-6 forward like we saw in parts last season and in the playoffs run. If he could stay healthy and produce over 50 pts (that's what he did 2 years ago last time he was healthy enough), then you don't really need to trade him until prospects are ready to take his place.
Myers is a good prospect but Harpur is also underrated like every other player who played on the Sens this season. He was one of the best D-man in the AHL and had very strong showings once he joined the team. It's just that when you play on a bad team, everybody becomes "bad" (at the exception of a few players who still have a good year)

Pretty steep price for 1 year of EK.
lol I find it funny that some people still say that. I mean, nobody in their right mind will trade for Karlsson and pay the astronomic asking price if he doesn't come with an extension... of course
Having said that, I do agree with the premise... 2nd OA pick + Hanifin + Skinner + 2nd round pick is a steep price for pretty much anybody not named McDavid. I'd ask only for the 2nd OA pick and Hanifin for Karlsson (coming with an extension!!!)
