If Montreal want a cup a day

Description
Montréal have no chance with this roster to win a cup sorry, they are one or the most money make team of the league. To me molson brother should just keep big salary on price and Weber to trade team for big pieces and plus by trading those players they will cap and keep those money.
Sure the price tickets will drop but the molson brother will get their money back in the future by having a playoff team and making around 3Million clear per game

????? Other teams. have their agenda and cap issues without taking on Montreal problems. Kings signed Kovi long term. They certainly don't need Patches or could afford him.
Leafs aren't giving up two starters this year,,,,Dermot and Grudstrom and it's top prospect TiimmyL for the expensive, long term contract, aging and injured Weber

Edited Jul. 6, 2018 at 8:52 a.m.. Reason: Actually, when you trade a player his cap hit stays the same, regardless of what he’s actually being paid. So disregard my post haha
Well the Weber trade is awful. Can’t move 2 D men for an injured one... but I would love the Leafs to trade for him.
Yoi wouldn’t have to retain any of his salary, his big pay years are finished. He’s owed 30 mil for the next 8 years, so he’s only a 3.75 per cap hit if he’s traded.
So without the Habs having the retain any of his salary, the price has to come down.
Unless you wanna have an injured 8 mil per cap hit for the next decade, not to mention that him playing half a season makes you draft around 10th instead of the top 3 again.
We moved Kessel knowing the pens would win a cup, return wasn’t great and we retained salary. He was healthy and in his prime. But that was the difference from drafting Auston Mathews or Logan Brown.

Kings trade isn’t happening, Patches already declined extension with them. He doesn’t want to go there. He is either going to finish his contract with the Habs or be traded to the Panthers. Any trade with the Panthers isn’t going to include any top prospects or 1st round picks from the Cats. That’s reality, MB is in a bad spot either way.

Weber isn't worth 4 million a season and he's becoming less valuable every year. No to any trade involving that salary.

You are right though this trade is seriously awful. Liljegren might be better than Weber next season, Dermott might have more value than Weber now! And Grundstrom is looking like a decent prospect as well. I would do any variation of this trade either. Weber is dust, let him fade away with this terrible franchise. (That being said, I really want Montreal to be good so we can see a Leafs Canadiens matchup in the playoffs.
