Talk is that Karlsson wants to play in the States, Most of the teams on his acceptable trade list are American teams like Vegas, Dallas and Tampa. No way i see Karlsson committing long term with the Leafs.

This is easily the most ridiculous trade offer ever. Leafs give double what they need here. I am looking forward to seeing Sens fans meltdown when they find out what they get for Karlsson is not what they expected if this is a serious thought

Talk has been just that ... there's been zero reliable reports throughout this entire development. As long as the Leafs aren't on his 'No Trade' list - it could happen IMO.

You honestly think Toronto makes this deal?

Ever? When the Bolts are "reportedly" involving Sergachev, Point + prospects and picks? Marner has a high ceiling but you may be overvaluing him if you think the Leafs wouldn't consider this - especially considering his upcoming tag. Elite defenseman are few and far between, they can replace Marner - potentially even in-house with Johnsson or Kapanen with the right opportunity.

For Erik Karlsson and a prime chance to make a run within the next 2-years, yes. Maybe, if anything, they can spare Liljegren being involved - but the rest are expendable if they're getting Karlsson.

No, If Karlsson were 7-8 years younger yes. This is just ridiculous

He's 28... Even if they only win one Cup in the next 10 years - at least the drought is over.

You're giving out your best winger, your best d prospect, TWO 1st round pick and another good prospect all that for EK? Overpaying much? You're the type of dude that goes in a yard sale, sees something he likes, ask for the price (5 bucks), then gives the guy a 20 with a smile thinking "wow! That's a steal!"...totally out of touch with reality. I would be VERY hesitant to do that exact same deal for Connor McDavid...probably would not do it. It needs work, man

Not a singke report reported Sergachev AND Point. No where. And not a single one reported that Tampa is even CONSIDERING trading Point...where do you get your information? Your contact at Blockbuster??

Ok that's good stuff I can't lie but we're not really comparing these guys to McDavid, right? Marner is not worth the 8-10M he's going to get when the cap keeps rising. Leafs fans would schedule the parade if this happened.

To be fair, I don't necessarily think Liljegren needs to be in this. Can I have my 20 back?

Yeah zero chance of Kyle Dubas doing a Mitch Marner for Erik Karlsson deal, Even with an extension. Marner is as untouchable to the Leafs Organization as Matthews is.

Dubas is doing a great job but we can't forget who's really making the moves here. Shanny will do whatever it takes to end the drought as soon as possible - they won't have an issue scoring goals with JT in the mix, along with the depth all through the bottom 6 - but their D-core right now is shaky.

That is quite the price to pay. All things considered, I wouldn't trade Marner straight up for Karlsson with a year left.

The obsession with forwards is incredible on this thread. The scoring will happen with or without Marner.... go get an elite puck distributor that will still help Freddy in the d-zone. If not, every game will be 7-5 win or lose.

Oh yeah, the extension would have to come for sure or this would be awful.

The obsession with the thought that Toronto would need a dman so bad they would:
"Hey JT we really want you. Sign here and play with Marner"
"Oh wait we lied we are trading him, you know that Toronto born kid who loves the leafs, we drafted high the other year and led our team in scoring last year. Ya that guy"
We don't need a dman that bad. Another would be nice but it's not a horrible top 6
