Haaaaard pass by Caps. Edler is a meh dman at best. Caps aren't giving up a top pair potential dman in Johansen and a 2nd for Edker. Plus they have no need for Edler, their left side is already set with Orlov-Kempny-Djoos.

i think Dallas would do that deal in a heart beat. No way Vancouver does that deal. If you take Spezza out and its Sutter for a second, I think its closer.

Yeah that caps trade is way off. Better off getting Orpik in FA than trading away Johansen for Edler.

I'm not even sure the Caps would take Edler with 50% retained for just the 2nd...

I think Vancouver would do the Spezza+2nd for Sutter, I think Dallas might do it too... One issue I have is that Dallas has cap space already, Spezza and Sutter are both off the books at the end of the season so neither is really going to have a major impact on Dallas' ability to land a big fish for next year, or take a serious run at Karlsson this year.
I do think Spezza, as offensively deminished as he is from his prime, is a potential offensive upgrade at center over everyone up the middle on the Canucks roster except for maybe Horvat. He's still strong in the circle, offers lots of leadership lost with the Sedins, and could be a good mentor for Pettersson as he transitions to the NHL and likely from the wing to the middle over the course of the year.
