There is a nonzero chance the Sens enter next year with either Thomas Chabot or Bobby Ryan as their best player. I think they are the current leaders in #loseforHughes.

If a team with a top pair of Chabot-Ceci and a top line of Ryan-Piageau-Dzingel makes the playoffs I will eat an NHL jersey.

not with the goalie tandem and D core after Karlsson is moved away on the cheap bc Eugene will lower the value insisting Ryan is thrown in the deal too

How long will you have them for? There is already rumours from NHL insiders that Sens have been dipping their toe market on both of them right now. They know they are in a blow it all up territory so doing the early leg work of what the returns will be on Stone and Duchene if or when they move on from them if they dont sign long term extentions to Eugene money.

Stone I think goes all the way to Arb, gets his 1 year deal award to him, Sens accept then the Stone trade clock happens. Duchene I can see resigning

The scenario I mentioned (Chabot and Ryan as best players) involves OTT going full rebuild and dealing both of them.

The lesson from Vegas is that NHL GMs are bad at evaluating talent and that most teams have depth players deserving of larger roles. It is not that hockey cannot be predicted or that any team can be successful regardless of roster. OTT's loss to Vegas didn't even play for them, so it's not clear they have the depth guys that can move up.

Why the bloody hell do you have Ian Cole and Mark Barberio playing over Sam Girard?!? Also Connor Timmins will probably be with the big club by then.
