Spitballing on an EK trade

Description
Just for fun as I don't see this trade happening. In the event there is too much bad blood between Trouba and the Jets & EK willing to sign with WPG. Jets are in their window so it makes sense in a way. EK used to Canadian market already, etc.

Kulikov/Perreault would have to be moved and Myers not re-signed for the 19/20 season for Laine/Wheeler/Connor extensions.

Doable capwise Wheeler would need to be traded or let walk as a UFA I believe. EK should get 11M and Laine will get a similar deal.

If im Ottawa I ask for Trouba + Ehlers/Connor + 1st but would go down to a 2nd rounder. However, a more realistic trade would be Trouba + Vesalainen + Petan + 2019 1st for a resigned Erik Karlsson

Switch Dano with Petan and Chiarot with someone like Poolman (and drop the 3rd and 4th to lower rounds if need be). Trouba and the 1st are big pieces that would look really good to the Sens, but Chiarot and Dano aren't very appealing.

I think if u traded Trouba+Vesalainen+Wheeler you could get EK, but I doubt it’ll only need Trouba a 1st and some scraps.

I just don't see how EK is worth that at this point. Everyone knows he has to get traded, Ottawa can't holdout until someone meets their asking price because otherwise they will lose him for nothing. Only way he would be worth that is in a bidding war and in that case, Jets will drop out of it

The mistake is to think Ottawa is in the driving seat. Ottawa is scared to lose him for nothing. They'll pull the trigger on an under valued deal.

Because everyone knows EK is leaving so it drives his value down. Maybe Dano isn't a good enough prospect, but this trade gives Ottawa a replacement for Karlsson. Hard to see OTT getting close to his real value at this point.

nope, the reason EK refuse the OTT contract is that there was not enough signing bonus money (like the JT deal) all OTT has to do is give the contract like JT and EK will stay in OTT so his value is full.
